Thats a good question,

 

Seems a little counterproductive any way you look at it for two reasons

 

first, your replacement is from an 86 (only year of V6)

 

Second, one from auto going into a manual.

 

Seems that there would be many more I-6 parts, harnesses etc to pick from rather one that you might have problems with.

 

IMO too many variables to take a chance on.

I would have to say no, since the 89 is fuel injected and the 86 isnt. The PCM mounts under the dash so all associated wiring would need to go in there too. You need to find a harness from a lke engined and transed model... 4x4 or 2wd should not matter in this case.

Yes, all engine/electrical parts up front are interchargeable with a Cherokee the same year. ;)

almost.......

 

you'll have to splice in the MJ sub-harness for the rear lights, XJ's are different. The other 99.95% of the harnesses are the same.
