What radiator is in my Jeep?

Recommended Posts

Here is scoop, I have an '88 MJ I just bought.

It has a transplanted 4.0 in it.. the radiator need replaced.

I don't know what year to tell the parts store.

It's an open system, w/ rad. cap on the drivers side.

The upper hose is on the passenger side top corner, the lower hose is on the drivers side about 2/3 way down.

There is one tranny line connector on the drivers side, just below the rad cap stem.

It sits on two pegs that slip into holes in the front cross member.

Anyknow know what year this would be from?

'89 - different

'92 - different

'94 - different

All different radiators used....

I'm not sure if my 4.0 is a High Output of not? How do I tell?

if there's a cap mounted on the radiator then it's a 91 or later rad, of course assuming that it's for the 4.0

My advice, get a tape measure and start measuring.

most all parts stores can give you the measurements of replacement rads.

if you do get a new rad go with the 91+ but just keep all the hoses the same... the radiator cap makes life SO MUCH easier when doing coolant system work. (have done t-stat and waterpump on mine and my brothers jeeps and his is WAY easier to get filled back up because of the cap.)
