dasbulliwagen
What is the approximate milage?
HOrnbrod
Showing 145K on the clock. Can not get a build sheet anymore for this 88, right?
dasbulliwagen
Re check the VIN, its coming up as not found..... yes I can still get a build for it, even though some of the codes have changed, it will give you a real good idea.
HOrnbrod
1JTMW64P1JT249624 is what it says on the faded registration sheet I'm trying to read. I'll run back over there and take a look at the windshield tag. The bold "J" above may not be a J though........
dasbulliwagen
The "J" would make it an 88, but after studying the last 6 of the VIN, the serial number part... none of the ones on the registry go over 219000. So I'm wondering if the 4 needs to be a 1???
HOrnbrod
The 249624 is very clear on the registration. I'll take a speed run over there and look. :D

dasbulliwagen
Sorry. Must be that Chrysler thinks that your jeep doesnt exist. They have the VIN to my 87, but no build info, can't beleive they don't show yours. There is a site through Chrysler that you can email for a build sheet, but I think they go to the same VIN check that I do. Maybe someone here has a link. Might be worth a try. Automan2164
1JTMW64P1JT249674 is correct. :hmm: You looking on the registration or the truck? I wouldn't rely on the DMV to get a VIN correct all the time. :shake: Rob L.

They both agree Rob. Checked both quite a few times. :hmm:
fiatslug87
Don, this site says the check digit is not correct, should be 8 http://jeep.avtograd.ru/VIN/vin_de.asp (in German) the English version isn't working anymore.
HOrnbrod
Hmmm. Which digit is the check digit Fiat?
fiatslug87
Digit #9, the 1 in your case.
Automan2164
The digit inbetween the VIN and the serial number Don. Here is my old site to help out, go to the VIN decoder: http://www.comanchemj.1hwy.com Rob L.
fiatslug87
1JTMW64P1JT249674 is correct. :hmm: This checks out, your initial post had it as 24 Image Not Found
HOrnbrod
Thanks Fiat - UBD1! My eyes ain't what they used to be, along with some other things. :( I found two MJs in our little town today (this 88 Pioneer + the 87 Laredo) riding my thumper around through the low rent districts. :D This one has a perfect body, 4.0L Pioneer, 2WD, D35, bench. fiatslug87
Are you picking up both? :clapping:
HOrnbrod
I'd like to, but do not have the room. Otherwise I'd probably collect them like the Wildman. Amazing how rust free the native MJ bodies are down here. As soon as daughter #1 graduates this year, gets commissioned, and enters the Army, and goes away, it frees up a stall in the garage for a good project MJ.
dasbulliwagen
Re ran the VIN with the 74 instead of 24 and it now works. The code descriptions arent there, but Ill put them up for you anyways... maybe you can get them decoded.
