Hick Posted September 12, 2010 Share Posted September 12, 2010 so coming back from the trails on friday my lights got dimmer progressively. Soon as i hit the off ramp, it died. Low battery and everything. The alternator is 4 months old and passed the autozone tester across the board. What else could this be? The battery would have to be totally shot to drain all the power that the alternator was generating like that. If the vehicle is running the alternator should be putting out enough power to run it with the battery disconnected. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hick Posted September 13, 2010 Author Share Posted September 13, 2010 The book says theres a fusable link in the + wire off the alternator. I'm thinking when the truck got mud covered it shorted something out and blew the fusable link, thus cutting the power from the alternator. :dunno: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
