MJ cap or Not???

I picked up this 88 MJ and with it came a cap. I am not 100% sure if it is off a MJ or not. it sits about a 1/4 to 1/2 "by the eye" inch lower than the roof line ( but id has no rubber gasket on the bottom. at the rear it lines up perfect and at the front it is about a 1/2 to and 1 inch "by the eye" to narrow. Now the guy I got it off, told me that his father in law had the truck from new, and the cap has always been on it and they are color matched.

 

Is this a actual MJ toper or did the old man in 1988 get something close enough and cheaper from something ells?

It has been suggested I could be off a Ranger?

From what I have seen, The caps made for a specific vehicle mate up better than that. To me it sounds like they bought that cap because it was available, cheap, or both. It all depends on what the person is willing to accept.

I knew I was going to get the Pics please. I will once I put it back on in a week. need it off for moving other crap around.

If it doesn't fit like mine in the signature, same height as the cab roof line w. the same angle, it ain't original. Your's sounds like a pre-94 S10 cap. It the closest non-original cap for the MJ but is lower than the roof and the sides angle in sharper from the bed to the top.
