Drahcir495 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I would like to know how to properly identify an AX15 when it is not attached to the engine, or in the vehicle. I know how to tell the difference between a BA10 and the AX15, I want to make sure it is not an AX5 for the 4 banger. Thanks, Rich
87manche Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 easiest way is the spline count. AX-15's all have a 23 spline output. AX-5's were 21 I believe. Dimensionally they are very similar, with trans length being the same for both. The AX-15 has more pronounce structural webbing. I'd recommend you go to novak-adapt.com and look in the knowledge base there for pictures and dimensions.

jeepthing07 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 The AX15 has a aluminum intermediate plate while the AX5's is steel so if you see a rusty band around it its a AX5
CWLONGSHOT Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 The BA10 is also a two pieces case. Its like a clam chell its split right down the middle!! Its also only found behind 6 cyls. CW

Looks like Friday I will have an A15 with bellhousing. This one came out of an XJ, so it should be a perfect fit. I have been waiting a while for a XJ/MJ specific AX15
