landlubber Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 AX-4/AX-5 is for 4bangers. you want to look for a BA 10/5 or an AX15
ComancheMan7893 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 well i was told it has an ax5 and i looked at it and called around at some trans shops they say its an ax5 so yeah
ComancheMan7893 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 i mean I'm no expert so idk how would i find out what kind of trans i have without taking it to a shop
Geonovast Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 well i was told it has an ax5 and i looked at it and called around at some trans shops they say its an ax5 so yeah Well, it's not, and they're wrong. The AX-5 was used behind the 2.5 Inline 4, 2.8 V6, and 2.1 Inline 4 Turbo Diesel. It cannot, and will not go behind a 4.0. There is no bellhousing, and it wouldn't survive. Currently you have Puegoet BA 10/5. A replacement will either be another BA 10/5, or an Aisin AX-15, which was used behind the 4.0 mid 89 - 99. The AX-15 is a much better transmission.
Automan2164 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 An AX5 won't even bolt up behind a 4.0L. Based on what you said, if its untouched, its a BA10/5. If someone replaced it, most likely its an AX15. Rob L.
