over2land Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 As you may or may not know, California is kind of rough to get vehicles through smog. I've had issues with techs failing me for various check engine light snafus, and just discovered a new one on my 91 MJ I'd never noticed on any Jeep before. If I pull the brake release while the key is in the "on" position, the check engine light comes on. Is this normal for a 91 MJ with a 4.0?
over2land Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Do the Renix models do it too? I never noticed on either my 88 or 89. Thanks.
mvusse Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 The Renix models are pre-OBD, so there is no check engine light.
over2land Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Oh that's right, just a maintenance required light.... Thanks

over2land Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Well, I passed smog, even with a bad plug wire. I put a new O2 sensor in it, swapped map sensors with another Jeep, newer cap, new rotor, and what I thought were good plug wires. It was close but passed.
