Trac bar relocation to steering stabilizer

Recommended Posts

Well not for the Comanche at the moment but figured i would get better results than jf. Looking to relocate my trac bar up and allow for more articulation. Looking to relocate it to approximately where the steering stablizer goes. Any one done this? I have some scrap 3/16 laying around and just built some long control arms for my senior design project and this is what stops my travel at the moment.

yeah i did something similar. you will need to shorten your tracbar or build a new one. i used box tube, cut it in half and drilled a hole in the ends for the bolt. i welded it onto the axle tube and welded supports off of it to the coil bucket, old tracbar mount and to the upper control arm mount. the braces are key for it to hold up.

i cut my track bar to make it fit the same angle as the steering arm. i have a dodge 44. so its high steer. but having the steering arm and track bar different lengths is causing bump steer. so i am going to mount them on the same arm where the high steer goes. :shake: :shake: . make sure you cycle through the complete arc to make sure cutting it is a good idea. this is going to be a complete teardown of the front suspension. this will be the sixth time. it gets old. learn from my errors.
