dasbrick
Whats an easy way to get the door removed from the hinge? I got a pair of 99 XJ doors I want to replace mine with.
johnnyc
Remove the six torx bolts per door, put on new doors, mount new strikers. The torx bolts are easier to get to if the fenders are off. There are holes in the hinges to allow easy access.
jbhill
or just get a stubby t40 bit.
Geonovast
:agree: A T40 bit and one of these do wonders.
dasbrick
i tried it today with just a typical socket wrench and I was able to get to most of em, but that ratcheting one, i might have to pick that up.
Akula69
Also, a floor jack with a 2x6 clamped to the lifting plate is really useful in helping hold the new door into position while re-mounting the doors :D
johnnyc
I'm not saying you can't use a stubby bit. I've done it that way plenty of times. But the last time I mounted newer doors on my Jeep, I was also changing fenders and had them off. It was sooo much easier getting the doors lined back up without the fenders on. You can use a full-size ratchet wrench. And the fenders are only held on with a few screws. Well worth the extra few minutes.
