Tranny woes.

Yeah, the subject says it all. What could cause a rattling transmission? Sounds like a spray can's ball knocking around in there, also, every so often especially in reverse and first, it makes a CLUNK -CLUNK -CLUNK noise.

 

Low gear oil?

 

Bad bearing?

 

It's a Ba-10/5.

Are all 4 bolts holding the transmission to the motor tight?

I can check but how would they get loose!?

Nuts, bolts work loose. That's why they have cotter pins and safety wire for those in critical places.
