89 automatic dash swap for XJ

Looking for advise or previous thread on swapping out MJ dash with dash mounted selector. It is still possible or is there a special year XJ dash I need to look for? Obviously don't want the new selector in the face of the tach. Maybe all I can do is keep the large gas gauge where it is and swap in XJ meters in the smaller pods.

Hate to tear into the DD dash unless I know what I'm actually doing and have the correct parts with me.

Would someone happen to have a similar MJ dash already removed so you could please share with me what it looks like from behind? Might make this easier to understand.

Putting the shift selector in the tach is the best thing you can do.

 

You cannot just put littler gauges in place of the lights, you need to swap in a full cluster from a Renix XJ or MJ.
