sinkrun Posted December 11, 2009 Share Posted December 11, 2009 (96 XJ auto 100,000 miles 4.0) Wifes xj has been having a hard time starting it will just crank and crank until you hold the gas down. This has started since it got cold out. I know its not a big deal if it were on mine but she has a remote start so its useless now and now is when she needs it most. Thanks for any help or ideas. JeepcoMJ Posted December 12, 2009 Share Posted December 12, 2009 fuel delivery issue. replace the filter. run some sort of injector cleaner through the tank. be prepared to replace the fuel pump. It could be the CPS...but that's not very likely in the event of a long crank/no start. my 87 does this if I don't let the fuel pump prime long enough.
