first post and have questions......

Recommended Posts

Ok, after some searching I have a few questions about a rear disc brake swap. I have a 1988 Comanche 2wd. I just aquired a '97 C8.25 w/ trac-loc and 3.55 gears. I want to instwall rear disc brakes from a ZJ and upgrade the M/C and booster. Do I need to change out the prop valve for the disc brakes?

One more question, has anyone ever used a hydroboost froma Chevy Astro van? If so, any tips? Thanks and BTW my name is Lance and I am from SoCal.

Sounds like a sweet project. Welcome to the club!

Opinions vary as to what prop valve should be used. Personally I'd go with the prop valve from a vehicle that had disks in it and do away with the height sensing valve in the rear of the MJ.

Also, be sure to start a blog about your truck in the projects forum. and post lots of photos. :D

Where in SoCal? It's a big place.

I've got Explorer rear discs on my D44. And a WJ brake booster and master. Haven't swapped out the prop valve yet, but I have one from a 4-disc ZJ in my toolbox.

My buddy actually pulled an Astro hydroboost unit from the junkyard. He was planning to swap it into his XJ, but never got around to it.

Oh, if you want a Dana 44 for your MJ, there's one in the Pick-a-Part yard on Beach Blvd. in Stanton.
