cracked head gasket....i think

Recommended Posts

i went out and checked my oil yesterday (truck had been sitting for 2hrs+) and at the bottom 1/4" of the dip stick it was milky.

i just had the bottom half of the engine done and so there is no way that i know of, of any of that making water get in the engine, so I'm thinking it was leaking before but since it was draining so much oil i never notice, or maybe it just decided to crack :dunno: what is the easy way to check without pulling the head?

ok thanks correy, I'm taking it to the mechanic Friday, i don't know if he has one or not, i'm sure he would, but he has to fix my oil leak anyway,(for free) my front main seal did not seal so its still leaking :fs1: if i remember right they should all be around 120ish p.s.i.?

Compression test. I'll bring my tester with me when I come back down in case you don't get ahold of one before then.

Mine checked out under compression test but I had a crack on #1 & #6.

are you saying the compression was good even though your Head Gasket was cracked?? that's the way i'm reading it......

Compression spec for the 2.5L 4-cyl is 155 to 185 psi.

Compression spec for the 4.0L 6-cyl is 120 to 150 psi

Both allow up to 30 psi variation between cylinders.
