External slave swap

By the black brake fluid, and from the slow fluid leak ive decided my clutch slave cylinder is bad (already replaced master) what all is involved in swapping the external slave over

Also, I'm wondering if my truck has the 21 or 23 spline output shaft, the PO says he thinks the jeep it came out of was a 93, the t case i have has no provissions for the vacuum disco

You need the proper bellhousing and the slave componants (slave, shifter fork, throughout bearing). Try to make sure they are all there when you buy the bellhousing.

So would the parts from say a 3.9 ax-15 dakota work? these are typically easy to find

The 3.9 engine has a completely different bolt pattern.

dang youre right, id gotten confused and was thinking about the dakota 2.5 bellhousing that allows you to bolt the ax15 behind the L4...OK well I'm lookng for 4.0 parts then! :banana:

FYI external slave started in 94. Might be easier to grab the whole tranny setup. Also all ax15s had the 23 spline output.

Your Ax 15 should be 23 splines. If you do just buy the bellhousing you will also need the front part of the trans where the throw out bearing rides. Also you will need to either buy the clutchmaster/slave kit with the hose included, or deal with the hose issue. I just did this swap. I ended up using my stock master, and external slave from a 96xj. I also used the Advance adpaters hose kit. Works like a champ.
