mike
my comanche is starting to be hard to start either warm or cold. it's an 87, 4.0L 5-speed, 2wd. i know there are some sensors like the throttle position, and crank sensor, but i'm not familiar with any of them and how to test them to see if they are good or going bad. if anyone can help or send me some info on them i'd appreciate it. other then that it runs great. thanks in advance
aemsee
Is it a long crank time? There was a service bulletin way back for running the crank sensor wires directly to the ECU and bypassing the rest of the harness and connectors. This usually did the trick. partsmj
The fuel pump could be a problem. It has a check valve to keep the rail under pressure. If the fuel drains back to the tank, it takes a while to build up pressure. Turn the key on, listen for the fuel pump. When it stops, turn the key off. Repeat. When my Cherokee sits around for a while, I'll do this four or five times, and it starts right up. Hope this helps.
