Box Removal

I have to remove the box on my 1990 Longbox. How much does it weigh? Can two guys lift it off??

Yea two guys can do it...but theres more there than your average bed...the emergency brakes and the gas tank are also attached to it. So make provisions before you start!!

Two guys is pushing it. Not that its heavy but awkward as hell to get off with only two people. When I put mine back on I took some 1.5" square tubing and made a big I that went from bed rail to bed rail with an eyelet in the center and used my engine hoist to do the the heavy part. Worked out really well saying I didn't have any help the day I wanted to put the bed back on.

remove the tailgate too! when i lifted mine off the tailgate end hit the ground cause it was heavyer lol.

just FYI the tailgate disconnects with no tools, just manuever it funny and it pops right off.

 

you probly knew that but i certainly didnt til my brother showed me.

I have done FULL SIZED truck beds with two guys. You just need stronger friends. ;)

If you want to be really slick,...position the truck so you can elevate the bed on 2X4's & saw horses and DRIVE OUT FROM UNDER IT!!!
