sinkrun Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Ok putting a different motor in my mj 4.0 auto. Some tell me to put a new front seal in the tranny should this be done? Also would it make sense to put in a new CPS since everything is out. I had no problem with this seal as of now.
Akula69 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I'd do it...because you can't replace the front seal without taking the transmission out again. Call it cheap insurance.
Wildman Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 :agree: I've replaced the input/output tranny seals, and the seals on the transfer case too while it's all out, best time to do it, and the cost of the seals is "cheap" enough to do it now, that to pull everything apart 6 months from now :fs1: After 20 years of wear and tear and age, the seals just don't seam to want to last much longer  Installing a new CPS is also not a bad idea either, seeing how they "fail" on a moments notice.
reson46 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Yes, replace it. Every time I remove an automatic transmission I replace the input seal. Willy
