deziped
Oh, lets say $75 an hour plus lot-o-beer. If kin folk involved don't touch it. You'll never hear the end of anything that goes wrong with it even it's ten years down the road. :brows:
Automan2164
Oh, lets say $75 an hour plus lot-o-beer.If kin folk involved don't touch it. You'll never hear the end of anything that goes wrong with it even it's ten years down the road. :brows: I agree with this one. I did a guy at work a favor and sold him an XJ I had for what I had into it. I told him what was wrong with it, and told him it needs work but would start, drive, and reach any destination. 1 week later, he was whining. I WILL NOT do any big jobs for people I know unless they understand things. I once had someone want me to put in a fuel pump they got in a junkyard out of a '95 van. I bet you can guess where I told him to stick that fuel pump. :brows: Better believe I put in a new one. ;) Rob L.

mnkyboy
I would call some shops and get some quotes, find out how much and what the shop rate is. this will give you an idea on price and if you divide the prices by the shop rates you will get a ruff idea on how long it should take. i would guess a shop would do it for around $400, which means the tech doing it is only getting $100-$150 so you want to bid lower then a shop but you should be able to make a bit more then a tech gets. $300 should be ok as it would save them some money and you make a decent profit. 64 Cheyenne
I'm doing head gaskets on a 04 stratus, shop estimates were 1400 to 1500. I'm charging 600 plus he has to buy all parts and fluids. I also made a stipulation that there are no guarantees because he wants to use some old parts and does not want the heads R&Rd by the machine shop. He's happy cause the repair is costing him 600+ parts,I'm happy because I'm making 600. I'm also happy because I'm able to do the work at my leisure. he has other vehicles to drive. BTW my time estimate in this is 3 full days = 200 a day, fair enough.Everybody's happy.
sinkrun
Call the transmission shop up near Ramey B&B I think up by the alley popper they will give you a price then just use your own judgement. One thing to consider what if the one you put in is no good even if the yard you get it from stands behind it they will not cover the labor. sinkrun
I was saying to call b-b just to get a price on the labor so you could get a idea. The guy before you get into Hudson near the body shop along 53 has 2 xj`s sitting at his shop (the airplane hanger looking thing)the are 97 plus I have not talked to him just seen them sitting there. He parts alot of stuff and it pretty cheap not sure what his plans are or if they would interchange with the grand? Hes not there much except for weekends and evenings his number is on his sign.
