comaaron Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 a few weeks ago my axel came out due to the c clip coming out i put my c clip back in and changed the outer bearing there seems to be to much slack in the axel on passenger side the driver side is tighter i figure the c clip will come back out what could couse all the slack could it be that side gear in the rear end need help
Automan2164 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Is the groove where the c-clip goes in worn in any way? Is the centerpin in the carrier worn in any way? Rob L.
Eagle Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 "Too much" is sort of imprecise. How much end play is there?
comaaron Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 thier is a gap between the center pin and the passenger side axel end its a very visable gap the other side is not as big i think maybe that side gear need a shim or something i can pull on the axel and is moves back in forth alot more than the drivers side cause i jacked that side up to see how much play it had and it only had a little play
Automan2164 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 ...i jacked that side up to see how much play it had and it only had a little play... Play is measured in thousanths (0.00X), using a dial indicator. "A little" I still too general. Sorry... Can you take pics of the carrier/spiders? Rob L.
jpdocdave Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 sounds like too much play is enough for the c clip to come out. i agree w/ automan, its either the groove on the shaft is worn, or the center pin, or both.
Eagle Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Out of curiosity, is this a Dana 35 or a Mopar 8-1/4?
