scorn86 Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Hey guys, I just got an 86 xls comanche. The engine has been replaced with a 2.5l out of a cherokee. It has a 5 speed and 4x4 on 31" street tires right now. I was wondering if there is any easy way to see what type the tranny is? I bought one of the cheap shop books and it shows quite a few transmissions in these. Thanks for the help.
Burls Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 More than likely its an AX-5, but there is still a very small possibility that its a T-5. AX-5 T-5
scorn86 Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 I appreciate the help. It ended up bein an ax-5. Is the ax-5 a decent transmission?
Geonovast Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 AX-5 is a very sturdy trans, you'll have trouble killing it with a 2.5.
beaterjeep Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 AX-5 is a very sturdy trans, you'll have trouble killing it with a 2.5. It is however, possible to do, trust me on that one. :D
