smithe1811 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I'm going to need to replace my front springs soon and i am in need of some advice from the Manche Masters. I have a 4 inch lift and am looking for some decent springs at a low price and i basically want to avoid buying somewhere cheap and end up breaking one. just something mostly for DD use with mild wheeling and very little highway. Thanks Erik
Pete M Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I'm going to need to replace my front springs soon... Why?
smithe1811 Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 because the one on the drivers side appears to have some damage to it. ill snap a pic tomorrow for you to see.
smithe1811 Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 At the bottom of the spring.... Image Not Found
Pete M Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Interesting. :hmm: How close to the end of the coil is the bad area?
Pete M Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Admittedly, I'd probably run it until I noticed that side sagging lower than the other. :shake:
smithe1811 Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 well i figure if I'm going to replace the shocks i would look into doing the spings next, thats why i was looking for input on an inexpensive yet well made set. any advice?
wolfpackjeeper Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 start looking in the classifieds on here and naxja for a set of RE springs. Should be able to come up with some for a good price used
Comanche County Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 A lot of options for coils: - older ford trucks: late 70s F150s - firm but do provide about the amount of lift you have. Tons of these in the yards. See http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Sus ... t_Lift.htm - ZJ Grand Cherokee Up Country springs or any Grand Cherokee V8 springs -- get all the steering links too. - Motion Offroad, RE, or any of the aftermarket guys have em pretty cheap.
