Thats a nice writeup... Covers the basics for doing the job. My only problem is he only discussesGMAW (mig) welding and not SMAW(stick) which is my prefered method, but it is all relative in principle, and practice.

 

 

Like he said prep work is king.. when in doubt grind it out. If it looks like poo poo...then the weld is probrably poo poo. Also a good grinder is needed when learning to weld.
