a CLUTCH pressure PROBLEM

A friend was able to fix the AX-5 but now even with a new clutch master and slave/release bearing and clutch assembly,the hydraulic clutch looses pressure after about two weeks but the master is still full to the mark.I did switch from synthetic to regular dot3 last time I bleed it and for now its still holding but it's only been a week. any Ideas.On the plus side my 18yr Son and 13yr Daughter know how to bleed a clutch now :clapping:

Did you replace the fluid line???

 

If you did, it could be a bad slave. Did you use a OEM slave cylinder???

it happened the same thing to me with my nissan 240sx and it was the slave cilinder. :cheers:

and the plus side here, my wife now know how to bleed the clutch sistem hahahhahaha :yes:

The slave release bearing is new from NAPA auto parts . No I did not replace the line.

Boy........this goes back a couple weeks :hmm:

 

I'd spent the $18 and replace the line and see what the results are. The 20 year old soft (rubber) line could be weeping or collapsing and causing all kinds of problems :fs1:

 

It is possible that the New slave is faulty and will not hold, you'll need to deal with Napa on that issue. I've heard others talking about only using a OEM slave to solve potential problem.

Is The line dealer only ? anybody have a part#.

Also the fluid level never gets low but I suppose line hose could colapse and leak between layers.I know the post is getting old, to many things going on at once,too many ??? Thanks.

You can get some brake line and bend yourself a new line.

 

This is just another example of why internal slave cylinders were one of the worst ideas anyone's had, ever.

Do you mean a steel (hard) line ? seems like It needs the hose part to flex between fire wall mounted master and rubber mounted trans?

It doesn't absolutely have to have it, but I'm sure you could make one with it in there. In 91 they went to a solid one piece plastic line anyway.

 

When I swapped the 86 external setup into my 91, I used an 88 master and line with the rubber part.

But, make sure you get some soft brake hose, not some vacuum hose.
