Whamm Posted January 11, 2009 Share Posted January 11, 2009 The 2.5l that i have now is starting to go south. :fs1: I pulled a lifter out and had a hole in the bottom of it where it met the lobe of the camshaft. I have found another 2.5 from a 86' manche for a pretty good price. Couple of questions 1. Is the 86' motor a carburated motor? 2. If so, will it still work with my 90 which is TBI? Whamm Posted January 12, 2009 Author Share Posted January 12, 2009 The "new" motor is about $350 with 103,xxx miles on it. I was just afraid that i would be inheriting someone elses problem child. My current motor has 275,xxx on it and not sure if has been rebuilt at all. But i do know that the PO had replaced the timing chain with one from a 4.0 (mines a 2.5). :nuts: I figured it coust around $400 to rebuild my motor. Thanks for comfriming this. bigd44889 Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 mine was a deal he had all the parts i will explain his son had a mj bored motor out 40 over and put it together started it up and head was puking water pulled it apart cleaned all the parts and put them on shelf oh his dad owens a machen shop my motor blew i bought block he did machen work and all the new parts for $400 my head was cracked so i boght a remand one and had it machend and decked i have 126 psi compreson just pulled a ford f150 out of dich on way to work today didn't even grunt lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
