robbwilk
I noticed my brakelights were not working on the left side. Tail lights work, though. When I removed the lens, I noticed some gummy substance(kinda looked liked corrosion) on the bulbs and in the bulb sockets. The bulbs looked fine. I cleaned everything the best that I could, replaced bulbs, but no luck. I am going to try a couple of new bulbs but I really don't think that will correct the problem. Any suggestions? By the way, it is a 1988 2wd four cylinder 4 speed Comanche. Thanks for any help! Robb Ft. Madison, Iowa :USAflag:
Pete M
The gummy substance was probably the factory stuff used to help keep out moisture. Check for corrosion in the plug connector located in the wire harness right behind the rear drivers side tire. It's a common cause of rear light problems. JOMJ87
Mine had the same prob and it was the connector on the brake pedal under the dash. I rigged up a new connector and everything was back to normal. Cole
