edman2007
Ok, I went out and bought an O2 sensor for the '88. I Go underneath the truck to find an O2 sensor with 3 wires, the new one only has 1. I looked up in the wiring diagram and the orange and grey wires go to different sensors and black is ground. Can you hook up the single wire to make it go to both of the sensors? Hope this makes some sense.
Eagle
They sold you the wrong sensor. Don't ty to use it -- return it.
edman2007
Thats what i was thinking. Just go get one for a pre '91 cherokee/comanche with a 3 wire plug then?
BLHTAZ
You may want to check with your local dealership too. There was a recall on the o2 sensors for those and if it has not ever been done on yours, you might get it done for free with the good dealership part instead of the aftermarket stuff. mvusse
The 3 wire sensors have a heater built in, so they can work sooner. The O2 sensor needs to be at least 600 degrees before it will work. It takes a while for the exhaust gas to heat it that much, but the 3 wire ones with a heater built in will hit it in less than a minute. The 1 wire ones are universal (and a lot cheaper), but work just as well. They just take a few minutes longer before they start.
