mjeff87
If I wanted to carry only one spare D44 (rear) shaft, would a short-side shaft work on the long side for a trail repair? Or would you have to carry one of each size? Jeff
johnnyc
In a real pinch, the short side shaft will work on the long side. You just won't have total spline engagement. But it's good to get you off the trail. I know people who only carry a short side shaft.
mjeff87
cool, so no issues with the spider gear walking or cross pin then? I'm carrying too much stuff as it is now, trying to lighten up some ;) Jeff
pingpong
Jeff, do you really expect to break a d44 shaft? Gabe in MPJAI finally broke a stock one, but he had 15 hard wheeling trips on it, and a 5 to 1 t-case, 5.13's and is very throttle happy when he needs to be. If you are worried about it.. upgrade to some alloy usa shafts and call it good.
mjeff87
ya never know......I just want to carry a spare in the toolbox to be on the safe side. Or else we haul my broken junk back on your trailer and you drive the Turd on the road :rotf:
