mx215
Are all comanche transfer cases the same?
dfreeman616
no, it depends on the engine/trans combo. for example, while 4.0l's with the auto and manual both have an np231, some have 21 spline input on the t-case and some have 23 spline input. autos (AW4) are 21 spline output, at least up through 1990. i'm not sure when, but at some point the aw4 went to 23 spline output. however, the ax-15 manual trans has 23 spline output all of the time, while the ba/10 manual has a 21 spline output. as far as i know, they all had the np231 with a 4.0l, but they might have had some np242's as well, although i haven't heard of any personally. i don't know what all came behind the 2.5 and 2.8l engines, much less the few diesels out there. Pete M
In 86 the available T-cases were the np-207 (21 spline) and the rare np-228 awd case. All 2.5L/2.8Ls had 21 spline t-cases.
