mj sender/pump in xj tank?

will the mj fuel sender/pump fit in a xj fuel tank? my mj tank started leaking and is pretty rusty so i'm thinkin about getting a xj tank and sticking it in the bed. i tried searchin but the search here hasn't worked too well for me.

nope. get a mj tank with a sender in it. from all ive read about people doing this on here. its not worth it. someone will prrobabally have something they can sell you used though.

The the XJ fuel tank will not work on the MJ, as you already wrote.

 

If your fuel pump and sending unit (Sender unit) is still in good shape, and all you need is the gas tank, www.raybuck.com carry a line of New gas tanks for both the lwb and the swb. And not too bad priced.

i know it won't fit in the stock location. i was going to put an xj tank in the bed to replace the stock tank and get it out of harms way. was gonna go with an xj tank because they are easy to find.

id check with who gives you a sticker. in New Hampshire it is illegial to put a gas tank in the bed unless you already have one under the bed and its a secondary or something like that

this is primarily a trail rig but mississippi doesn't check anything like that for inspection. all we have to have is all working lights and horn, good windshield and legal tint if windows are tinted and thats about it.

so your going to get some exhaust hanger going across each end and one going along the tank the long way?

Someone tried to fit the XJ sending unit into the MJ and the they are actually opposite of each other. The float arm and the filter are on opposite sides which caused it to hit on the "pan" inside the tank. So I think the same thing would happen if you tried the MJ in the XJ tank.
