anouther question is does anyone know if rock rats are still making rock sliders for there comanche's or any other company that sells them?

The front or rear debate is another one that goes on like which tire is best. I personally think that the rear is the best choice because it is the main drive axle and carries the biggest load even when in 4WD. I don't like ARB's and would never recommend them or put them in my vehicle, but that is another debate ;) .

Check with Motion Offroad for rock sliders for you MJ.

Correct, but the nightmare of air compressor, air lines, difficult/expensive install etc, etc... is just not worth it. I agree that the selectable locker is the way to go, but my preference is OX Lockers  . OX is simpler all around and from what I have seen it is stronger and more dependable than ARB.

This is all just my opinion (of course) based on my personally experiences from previously being in the aftermarket business (4 Wheel Parts) of selling & installing such things.

yeah true and me myself i havent experianced a locker myself i have just heard from people why they prefer them but i do think its true that with all the air lines its possible for it to get blocked or cut which would render your locker usless

A properly setup ARB is absolutely as reliable as any other selectable locker. It is also my preference as I find it easier to run the variable length air lines than to deal with a set length cable.

They had some issues WAY back when they first came on the market, but so did the OX.

I have had first hand experience with both and can honestly tell you as long as you follow directions and install them as the manufacturer recommends, either one will provide YEARS of reliable service.

I just beat the crap out of my ARB's today and they amaze me every time I flip the switch and they come up... It's all about the install not matter what you do... Install the Airlines smartly, you'll likely never have an issue.

I thought the OX levers were UGLY as all get out and didn't want to mess with running that cable... If my ARB Line tears, I take 5 minutes splice and partch it... your OX cable gets pinched or torn, your SOL unless you have another to run...

Just my $.02's...

Back to the question... I'd go Rear myself first as well if I were doing one side...

well, if you do the front you NEED a selectable locker if you want to drive on the street. with no variation between wheels, you can end up wrecking the shafts because of wheel hop...turning plus locked = carnage if you're not careful.

I'm between the ARB, and the Aubern Ected electrics...I've heard good things on both, but heard more bad things about the electric lockers than the air lockers. I prefer electrical things (wiring is kinda my thing) over air or mechanical, but my entire truck will be brimming with unused air, so air is the most likely choice.

I understand that OX is making a variation of air locker to substitute the cable as well, last I heard.

This is true, and it's now available.

They can be retrofitted to any new OR old OX ever built.

Greg @ OX last time I talked to him said they are working on a electric actuator as well. So soon you'll be able to pick whatever way you want to control their locker.

I like the electric idea.

I'll have to be watching to see how that develops.
