will the ax15 five speed from a 4.o six mate up with the bellhousing on a 2.5 4cyl engine?

forgive me if this is a stupid question.

at face value to me it won't work but I want to be sure.

Yes and no.

 

Not with Jeep parts. But if you can find a bellhousing from a Dakota that had an AX-15 behind the 4-banger, you could.

And even after you get one of those(I've only ever seen one for sale, and there was a catch- you had to buy the truck), you're still going to need to do some fab work for the tranny mount.
