parts compatability for Comanche

I would like to know if there is some kind of parts cross reference/compatability out there or if anyone knows if you can swap out a 4 speed trans for a 5 speed trans and across how many model years are they bolt up?

I have a 1987 comanche with 4 speed and 2.5 engine, I lost 1st and 2nd gears and I would like to goto a 5speed tranny, I am hoping to improve gas mileage, so I need to know what model years are compatable ( direct bolt up) :USAflag:

Rumor has it the T-5 was used, sparingly, behind the 2.5 and 2.8 in 86 MJs. Only problem I could see running into is a different clutch.

 

Also, the 2.5 and 2.8 used the same 5 speed, same bellhousing, so you could used one of those too.
