  1. Okay so my search hasn't exactly been the most fruitful of the following question. What are the dimensions of a Renix 4.0 TPS bolt and IAC bolt? I wanted to replace the bolts because I lost one, the other TPC bolt started stripping at the torx head, and the IAC bolts somehow have a triangular shape to the shaft. On a whim yesterday, I took the TPS bolt to the hardware store, and it seemed to match with an M5, but the M5s that I took home seem too big. Today I returned and noticed that the TPS bolt will thread into both the M5 and the 10-32 gauges. But when I compare the bolt to what they have, it seems the threads don't sawtooth together with the 10-32 bolts. Or maybe it was 8-32, heck I dunno, I've got so many numbers already to memorize... The IAC looks to have a larger diameter shaft. '89 4.0 Renix, by the way.
  2. Long time listener, first time caller! Ive got a lot to explain, so ill get right to the point: 87 Comanche HO Swap Ran after swap fine for a month Problem: A short in the dash powerside wiring (the small orange/black wire) caused a no start problem The dash light wiring has been repaired Symptoms: No spark from coil No injector pulse Fuel pump primes but not running during cranking Intermittent Voltage gauge operation Tachometer not working Diagnostics: CPS is newish and tests at 235 ohms and puts out .5v ac current during cranking 5v at tps and map TPS tests puts out 0.8v MAP tests good O2 tests at roughly 400 ohms Both temp sensors test good Replaced coil, ICM, coil lead 12v and good ground at ICM 3 prong plug Ground at ICM 2 prong plug (not sure if this is supposed to be, the wire is yellow) 12v to coil from ICM Opened up ECU, looks good and all testable components tested good The four relays behind the battery all test good, same with the relay on the drivers side engine bay Cleaned C101 connector (was filled with goopy sticky black stuff) Cleaned plug going to fuse box 9 filled with same stuff) Checked the CPS resistance at ECU pins D1 and C1, came back same as at CPS Checked all fuses and fusable links Cleaned ground strap and connections at the starter relay I thought I had no power at ECU but I think I am testing the wrong connectors (D10 and C11) my wiring diagram seems to be wrong, what pins should i check for power at? I am honestly stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Ive read through nearly every forum I can find
  3. So I know this is an MJ forum but ya'll have helped me out as a jeep fan before... I have some transmission issues. Those being a bad surge. I bought my 96 Grand used and it didn't even move. Changed fluid and filter and it moved but barely. Changed the OD solenoid and Gov Pressure sensor and it worked for a bit, drove it to work no problems for a couple weeks than bam, right back to surging from 1500-3200rpm, and not going into gear barely at all going from a stop. I have since changed TPS, MAP sensor and idle air temp sensor and nothing has changed. I found a large amount of shaving bits in tranny filter last change and a large, brass/copper piece resembling a piece of flat washer. I was leaning toward torque converter but don't get why it'd go in and out of functioning. Any thoughts guys?? Thanks a ton!!
