  1. I did this swap on an '85 XJ 2.8. Didn't address the flywheel(manual tranny, flexplate automatic) at the time of the swap even though I was aware it needed to be changed. The vibration under acceleration was unbearable past 25000rpm. If you can't find a shop to neutrally balance yours, I think they are still available from GM Performance Parts. That's the way I went. I figured the extra expense was worth it if i was dropping the drive train again. Was like night and day driving it after replacement. Never had an issue with the crank damper. Eagle was active on the NAXJA.ORG forum back in the day when a few of us did this swap. He might have something to add, or perhaps he's staying out of this thread to encourage the use of an archive search. ;)
  2. Went with a NAPA mc. No such inquiries about shaft length there. Seems like a fine aftermarket part. It was $60, though.
  3. Doing the clutch MC, slave and clutch on '89 Manche with the BA10/5. I called one Chrysler/Jeep dealer who told me that the computer showed clutch MC was no longer available. Then I called a Dodge dealer that doesn't carry Jeep who said he saw it referenced in the Mopar parts system, but that it was asking whether it was the "short shaft or long shaft?" I said WTF? Never heard such a thing. Haven't seen any reference to that in any aftermarket offerings. Any ideas?
  4. Doesn't the 2.8 have a mechanical fuel pump? Had a 2.8 in an '85 Cherokee with Cali emissions, Rochester E2SE carb, and a module in the distributor under the rotor. Had that module go bad twice in 12 years, had the same driveability issues you're citing. Carried a known good one in the tool bag JIC.
  5. Hey, had this same thing happen on my '89MJ, 4.0. My oil level was waaay too high, and gassy smelling. Someone from this forum nailed it on their first guess. He said it was the ECU. I, of course, changed a few suspect looking injectors. It was the ECU. $50 junkyard trip and all was well
  6. Somebody was looking for the Monroe catalog. Here's the link: http://tenneco.com/frames/monroe.html Click on "Catalog Lookup", then select "Miscellaneous Application Information". Pages of shock dimensions with their various mounting configurations.
