  1. Eric is it still broken? Sure is :( Erik Eric, Did you change out the U Joint? Its very apparent (from your video) that the bearings under the one cap of your front U Joint are completely GONE!! It needs to be replaced. A couple posts back, near the bottom of the first page there are some good links on how and what to do to correct this. As I said, this isn't a hard project. Its something everyone wheeling a jeep should know how to do. Post up if you have problems. CW its not that i tried something and it failed, i just haven't done it yet is all. i drive my truck maybe 4 miles a day, and if I'm not working late, I'm chasing my kids around or helping someone else with a problem or task. i do give thanks to everyone who responded and as soon as i replace the u-joint i will let yall know how it worked out and if that completely fixed it or if something is still amiss. so for everyone! Erik

  3. i talked to Lou, i headed there tomorrow to take a look at it and get some good pics and info. ill let you know what i come back with. ill pm you (wahoo)when i get back or if you want ill call you, just pm my your number. after i look at it ill figure out if i need any parts from it and we'll go from there.
  4. Well, i certainly appreciate all of the info as usual from here and i will get this fixed and hopefully be able to contribute in the future of someone else has a similar problem. and as far as blaming the potholes here in PA, it was one specific pothole that i hit doing about 15mph and it almost stopped my truck, after that is when i noticed the noise. the ujount may have been worn before hand, but i think thats what put it over the edge.......plus i can go back and yell at the hole and not look as crazy as yelling at the rain  Erik
  5. ok, so I'm just looking at a u-joint then, right? :dunce:  DANG PA POTHOLES!
  6. so, the easiest and cheapest fix would be to replace the whole axle?
  7. ok, so i found out where the sound is coming from and took a video of it. can someone tell me exactly whats broken/loose and how to fix it?
  8. i live right by this if anyone wants me to take a look for them  might even go in on it with you wahoo for some parts.
  9. i love this thread, next time in in CT., I'm going to buy you a beer, CW.
  10. all i could do was visually check it, there was no play in it and it wasn't moving unusually, the sound was coming from farther outboard than the u-joint though. Erik
  11. So a couple of months ago i hit a GIANT pothole with my front right, now just a few weeks ago i have a clacking sound coming from there, it happens twice per wheel rotation and one clack is louder than the other and it gets faster when i speed up. i finally had time to take a peek today and apparently i need some weird size allen key to remove the caliper so i wasn't ably to take the disc off to get a good look, but with the wheel off, id i spin the axle, i can hear the noise, it sounds like its coming from inside or behind the disc. from what i could see, there was nothing unusual. any ideas? it got a little louder over a few days and now has stayed the same. i don't have any pulling or death wobble or anything and i can only hear it in the cab if i have the passenger window down and I'm driving next to something to bounce the noise back. thanks Erik
  12. yeah there was a couple of good fights,Hamill is a good fighter, but i was hoping Jardine would have pulled it off. The main event went exactly how i had hoped, i really wanted court to win the contract and he did so

    Marine

Might as well get used to not swatting the bugs off when they bite you, no matter how many sand fleas are gnawing on you, you can't do anything about it. and X2 on looking at the female recruits, you'll be right in the pits for that. the hardest part about Parris island is actually the first few days and its only culture shock, make it through that and you'll be fine as long as your in decent shape and can take orders. there are a few of us on here and i'm sure we would all be willing to answer any questions you may come up with while your in the DEP.Semper Fi future Marine! p.s. at least your going to boot camp instead of San Diego.... :rotf: sorry JeepinDev89, i couldn't resist....

    THANK YOU
  18. i had the exact same problem with my 88, my fix? i scrubbed the heck outta my battery terminals and terminal connectors, they didn't look corroded or anything, but i guess the lead builds up this near invisible film on it and inhibits the connection, put a coat of terminal grease on them. problem never came back.....
  19. when i order mine, do i get a discount on a matching front one? :brows: awsome job, really nice.
  20. well, once i get some more time to head back out there and look i will make sure to get pics(if i find the plugs) for the useful info thread!
  21. so i was at autozone recently and something happened to catch my eye........ Image Not Found
  22. :wall: i really don't want to pay to have my transmission fluid changed, there has to be someone here with a 4x4 ba/10-5 that has changed their own fluid before that can perhaps take a minute to snap a pic for me of both plugs.
  23. i found what i think is the fill plug, but i don't now which is the drain, there are just a couple of regular looking bolts there. and i see what you mean about that plug having an odd size square on it.
