  1. Is there a formula for calculating difference in miles without using a gps? I sadly don't have a gps. And I think I smell the smell of it running rich... so o2 sensor needs to be checked? I'll be checking everything if I ever get a break from prior work. I really need to fix that gas gauge...
  2. And yes the engine seems to run great other than a small exhaust leak, and my oil leak I'm tryimg to find. Is there a certain smell the truck has when it's running rich? Also when I crank the truck the rpm's shoot up to 2000 and then go back down to about 550-700, is that what its supposed to do?
  3. I noticed bad fuel economy once I started driving it regularly a couple months ago. I've only have the truck since December of '12. I don't have a fuel gauge so I didnt keep up with gas until I really started driving and having to fill up alot.
  4. Oh and I'm going to clean throttle body thoroughly and the airbox.
  5. I am a little confused now, honestly. I didn't figure my slight tire upgrade would be that big of a problem towards gas considering theres people running 31's on stock with little to no problems it seems. I'm going to get the reccomended plugs and everything. Then I should also check all sensors and replace the vacuum canister/all vacuum wires connected that seem old?
  6. I've already checked off the valve cover, and oil filter (PO changed valve cover gasket. I changed the oil filter the other day.) Is the oil filter adapter seals a different thing? And wgeres the oil pressure sending unit at? I also didn't know the distributor had oil running through it... and how much will all of the wires and plugs and everything run me? Looks like I'm deffinetely spending my bumper and rollbar fund on getting my MPG up.
  7. I have to add oil weekly thanks to a rms leak that I havnt had the time to fix. My tires are all brand new. I was thinking about getting new plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Should I?
  8. Looks like I'm gonna be having fun with sensor testing when I get home... great :D thanks man that site really is thorough enough to get things tested hopefully easily
  9. tell me where they are and how to check them and I will :D I really need better mileage haha
  10. Ill clean the map sensor hose. And can I buy a new vacuum bottle for behind the bumper? Changed all hoses except the MAP (was told the hose was fine. Just got the rotted bushings changed.) And I'm still only gwtting about 13 a gallon.
  11. We'll end up doing that ASAP once he gets a job. Thanks guys.
  12. We changed motor and transmission mounts last year with some rustys offroad HD mounts. I was hoping there was just a bad vacuum hose or something like that, like with my Renix. Its cheaper to just change a vacuum hose haha. But really the truck runs great and seems to get great gas mileage
  13. I have no idea, honestly. He bought it in '11 with like 170k and hasnt put 5k on it. He's been so screwed over on suspension and steering that we didnt really notice the idle until now. He doesn't have a job currently so the plugs and all that will have to wait I guess.
  14. So messing with my truck and my brothers truck today. I think his HO might have a rough idle. It idles at about 750 rpm but it shakes. Runs good though. It just feels like a rough idle and I was wondering if this is normal or what I could do to fix it?
  15. Hey guys. I've been saving up a good bit this summer and think I may spend it on a winch bumper. I've been looking at the Rustys Pre-runner series 2. Simply because I live really close to Rustys and know someone that could probably get me a really good deal on the bumper and skid plate. I was just wondering if anyone has used this bumper and what they think of it? I'll be probably using a Badlands 12k winch because a friend has it and highly recommends it. Thanks!
  16. Probably shouldve read through all the tips before attempting anything.. thanks. I've got to order the vacuum harness's. Hopefully will get to install them by next week end. Is there anything else I should pick up? I can't get the o2 sensor yet.
  17. I simply adjusted it by screwing that allen wrench screw off the TB. I'm guessing now that that was a bad idea and shall do everything according to what you recommend. And thank you for the pictures. How many lines come off the air intake box? And the BA10 was in them till about mid 89. Mine was made in febuary. Hence the ba10
  18. Is there like a package I can buy that has all the vacuum lines? Like a harness or something?
  19. So i should do what? Adjust the tps again? And what rpm should I? And how do I change the oxygen sensor? This all explains alot. Where can I get the new map sensor connection? Its not the line I taped, just the rotten end at the MAP sensor. Thanks.
  20. But down to 160 miles a tank? Seems a little drastic honestly.
  21. I am deffinetely missing a couple lines... need to see it on an actual engine to be sure. And how do I check the o2 sensor?
  22. Yep. Original Renix. Itd be greatly appreciated if someone had a diagram. I need to check under the hood of my friends 88 XJ and compare >.>
  23. Not from what I could tell. I had to tape up the connection to the MAP sensor because it was so rotted. The only other bad one I can find is the oil return line (I think?) Does anyone have a diagram of the complete vacuum line harness? I think I may actually be missing a line from the air box...
  24. And wheres places that gas leaks often appear? I don't smell anything but it may have one when running, who knows
