  1. The MJ was by its lonesome off in the back. If boobies were in the fore front, I'm not suprise ya missed it. If push up bras were issued, someone is due a promotion. Did you at least stop in and see Jason? lol.
  2. Never knew that about the ebay thing... that ain't right. I ended up going back this AM to grab the front doors for my 89. Power windows, locks, and mirrors. Took 2 hours cause the dang hinges were tweaked. Show was meh. Nice talent, hopefully legal. No booth... wandering around myself. You went to school with Jason? Talked to Mike myself today. Did you see Curries MJ?
  3. LOL... The MJ? They don't care about it... Besides, I didn't really think there were many if any people here from the area. I ended up going back this morning at 5:30 to get the doors myself. I decided that by the time I got done with seals and whatnot on my doors, I could just by these. Now I gotta figure out how to make grey interior panels maroon.
  4. Yeah, and I gotta be at the show all day tomorrow... Prolly a good thing, or I'd be at the JY with tools and spending waaaay too much stripping parts.
  5. I was at the Miliken Pick a part today in Ontario (So Cal) and saw the following stuff. I'm not affiliated, just passing along info for anyone who may or may not be looking for parts. For guys out of the area, sorry I can't go and pull stuff, as I'm out of time for the next few days. The '97 XJ was a 4wd auto, but both trans and tcase are gone, white exterior, grey leather interior, was in a front end collision, but doors and hatch look ok. Power everything, all parts still there. Dash all there, but not all installed, full floor console and overhead console that looks like it was half removed by a gorilla. Engine is still there, throttle body is still there and still has its sensors. The electric fan and fan shroud is gone, brake booster, master cylinder, and prop valve all gone, the front fenders hashed as is the header panel. Painted flares are there (some in the back of the Jeep). It has cruise control, heated power mirrors, rear defrost, rear wiper, and the wood trim for the center panel on the dash and door panels. Also, it has the factory skid plate for the gas tank, although the gas tank itself is gone. The black '91 MJ is a manual 6cylinder truck, but the motor is gone. Trans and t-case still there. Bench seat which seems to work, grey interior, shattered rear window, a few dents in the rust free bed, tailights massacred, tailgate gone. Manual windows/locks/mirrors. Seeatbelts missing, rear wall carpet missing, headliner missing. 6 gauge cluster, gas tank missing. Also, there is like 20 or more fleet trucks, like line painting or maintenance trucks that are there. Many of them are GM products, and all the GM products look like they have or had hydroboost. If I had to guess, I'd say there are 10 or more hydroboost units, hoses, and master cylinders there in those trucks. There is also a 2-door 86 with V-6 and 2- 87 with inline 6. Seats are gone or thrashed, didn't pay them much attention beyond that. If that isn't enough, this weekend is half price day out there. Doors open at 6 am tomorrow. This is the pick a part in Ontario right off the 60. Just a heads up for guys needing/wanting parts.
  6. I'd love to have dual tanks... but with the exhaust down the other side, wehre would I put it? The spare tire location is the obvious option... but then I'll be whanging the tank off all kinds of stuff off road.
  7. LOL... thanks! I'll go under there with a tape measure and see what I can guesstimate out.
  8. Hangars are the least of my concerns... I was wondering about axle, bed or "frame" interferance or anything. If the tank physically can fit, I'll hold it up with bailing wire and duct tape (for that extra safety) if I need to, lol.
  9. Oh yeah, here are the dimensions I can find on the tanks: 36-1/2 x 17 1/4 x 13 5/8 (long bed) 29-3/4 x 17 1/4 x 13 5/8 (short bed) I've got like 6-inches of lift on the first truck, and dunno if that matters, but its looking like I'm going to end up with about 6 inches on the second one too. I just wanna get more range out of it. Thanks
  10. Let me start by saying, either I'm a moron, or the search here sucks. I can't figure out how to trick it into returning results that are relevant to what I am looking for. Even "gas tank" returns a mess of stuff I care nothing about right now. That said, has anyone looked at putting a long bed tank in a short bed truck? I've got two short bed trucks... and one of the reasons I wanted a long bed was for the added range of the larger tank. Will it physically fit in the short bed truck? Thanks.
  11. I'm probably one of the worst offenders of this... But since on most of the forums I'm on, the threads I put up tend to veer towards BS threads and go all over the place, topic wise, I tend to just post in the general/BS/whatever section since they likely will end up BSing sooner or later anyway.
  12. Hey Wildman- Any way to get a copy of those images where I can see the numbers? I saved it to my hard drive, and opened in photoshop, but even with playing around a bit, I still can't quite make it out.
  13. Ok, well I got to spend more time with the truck this morning... and the mini-console is broken all around where the shifter boot is supposed to clip in. I didn't notice it when I looked at it that night. Anyway, I'll shoot ya a PM on the console, as it looks like I do need yours after all.
  14. Sweet, so its just like the long console in that regards. Thanks then, I don't need it.
  15. Is it a 4WD one? Is the 4WD one even different than the 2WD one? If its the 4WD and its different than the 2WD, I definately want it. Let's go PM on it. Yep, pics were taken with the phone... first day in literally months I had no camera on me. I've taken a camera everywhere every day since. The '88 is getting the buckets and console from the XJ. I dunno, I just don't wanna mess with the inside of the '89 if I don't have to. I bet I'll end up hating not having a console to put stuff in... but then, I only ever put stuff I never saw again in the long console.
  16. Yep, that was me. Poor truck. For a bit there I was trying to sell the whole thing. Now I'm making it whole again. I found pics of the 4WD shifter with the bench. Is the "console" (for lack of a better word) the same for the 2WD and 4WD trucks? Can that "console" be found in an XJ?
  17. Sorry guys, don't have pics. Its dark. Hopefully next week sometime. Oh, and sorry guys again, this is long, I thought I should explain. As you may or may not know, my first Manche burned last year... its been sitting, and only recently have I started in on the repairs. The body isn't particularly straight on it, but there isn't a spec of rust anywhere (even under the carpet), and I found a smoking deal on a late model XJ. So, the XJ will give its life to bring the 88 shortbox eliminator back. I thought it was going to be a wham bam kind of project, but one thing led to another with it, and now its looking like I'm gonna cage it while its torn apart. Anyway... so that left me with being so close driving the Comanche again, and then not being close at all again. Time to cry in the craigslist. Found a '89 shortbed pioneer the guy was asking 850. Went to look at it. The pukegoat trans had no third, it was 2WD, had a bench seat, missing the headliner and a-pillar plastic, the paint is thrashed. May or may not have a rod knock or other knock in the motor... hard to hear over the throwout bearing squealing. The good is, I can't find a dent on the body, what is left of the interior is spotless, no rips in the bench seat, no stains, air blows cold, all gauges work, all warning lights work, etc. Anyway, I had 500 in my pocket, and after driving the truck around, offer it to him. He accepts, and I drive a new to me MJ home. Again, sorry so long to get here. I've spent half of this month on the road, I started this deal two trips ago, and am leaving tomorrow on another trip. I finally got the guy and the truck in the same place, and I'm excited about the score (I almost shouldn't be allowed to have this clean a body in a pickup). I'm actually waiting for laundry to get out of the dryer while I type this novel. I did a quick search, but I'm pressed for time, and leaving soon for another 6 or so days on the road. I don't know if I'll have internet, but wanted to get this out there. Right now its 2WD. It needs a trans. I happen to have a trans and t-case that were going to go in my 88 before it burned. They've been sitting on the floor awating a vehicle. They'll be going in this one. Problem is, with the 88 I was planning on just stealing XJ parts for the 4WD shifter, as the truck had bucket seats. This 89 has a bench, and I don't remember seeing a bench seat 4WD MJ. Were they made? Anyone got a pic of the 4WD shifter? I'm going to check the engine for compression and leak down, drain the oil and check for silver or gold... if the engine is shot (140K miles on it), I'm going to stay Renix, but was wondering about a Renix stroker. Anyone do it? Different than a HO stroker? Just a wacked out thought I had while driving it home. Thanks all. I'll post pics when I get em.
  18. Maybe I'm a complete moron. But I can't trick the search into searching just titles, and I get 732 matches when I search for carpet. I didn't even try headliners after that. I'm bringing my MJ back from the dead. Ok, I'm killing an XJ to do so, but there are more XJs to be had. Anyway, the interior came out today, and I got a good look at the carpet. While not holy or anything, its seen waaay better days. So, I go looking for carpet kits and find this site: http://www.stockinteriors.com/AutoCarpe ... odelId=249 I'm looking at the "ultra plush pile carpet" with the "mass backing" option. Anyone use them before? Any opinions? It kinda worries me that they think the MJ went through '94. Man, what I wouldn't give for a '94 MJ (much less a '92) Or, if you've used another company, let me know about that too. I'd like to replace the headliner too, while I'm making the truck nicer, but I'm just not coming up with anything. I'd like an ABS plastic headliner like can be had for Chevy trucks... but really, I'll take any headliner. The current headliner in my truck has no carpet, and the backing is cracked in a few places, chipped in others and so on. I'd like to just carpet it and call it good, but have yet to stumble across a carpet or a glue that would work for that. Anyone have any ideas? Again, thanks.
  19. And, hey, look, another one! http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/car/248950177.html

    Jeep Commander

I really like that 3.0 Diesel. Wish it made it over here... without importing your own. Got to tool around in a Grand with that engine, and its a lot of fun.
  21. thanks pong.
  22. As good as it looks... considering (I agree...I was kinda amazed that it was so isolated. I guess random dousings with a huge fire extinguisher and water before cutting the hood actually helped)... I just can't take the gamble and have it not work out. So, I'm hoping someone else wants to get a great MJ cause I'm too chickensh*t to take the leap.
  23. I thought I mentioned... I did smell gas but then replaced the o rings on the injectors a few months ago and stopped that problem. The guys on the Jeepspeed board are saying that the injectors are known to leak. Not just the o rings, but the injectors themselves. You guys hear anything about that?
  24. After looking at those pictures... It also has a custom bent exhaust with a big block (lots of catalyst) cat on it (its passed smog the last two years. Barely registered on the sniffer both times. And its got a 70 series flowmaster muffler... really quiet inside, but sound good outside the truck.
