What makes this bar so important? I've yet to have a vehicle with a track bar until this jeep
-
Would a used one off a Cherokee suffice?
-
Is this just a matter of bushings or must the whole bar be replaced?
-
Track bar? Now there's a part I've somehow never heard of. Or is that same thing as a sway/stabilizer bar? What is the hydraulic piston thing for? I've never seen something like that on a vehicle.

Aside from the fact that I have nearly 1/8th of turn of the wheel before I get response from the tires. I noticed that when I turn the wheel, before the tires turn, the truck itself shifts the opposite direction. Clearly some steering component, what is typically replaced/worn out soonest?

I have a bit of an idling problem, and some floppy cold air intake in place of the box. Will a air box assembly from a 6cyl Cherokee fit in 2.5 1986 comanche?

Anyone wire in their own cd player?
E4Marty replied to E4Marty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright I got the radio to work; however I ended up running a wire to the Acc. port and another to the IGN port on the fuse box. I ran the wires to the radio's ign wire and constant. The radio still shuts off entirely when I shut the truck off (no saved settings) Can anyone tell me where the connectors for the rear speakers are? -

It's an older Panasonic cd player, non detachable face. Idk the model off hand. I tried pushing all the buttons but I couldn't get to say more than "set" -

I just want a working stock setup Hooking up both 12v seemed to do something, now the radio has power, it just says "set". I don't see how the rear speakers are mounted, but I'll buy a set for the front and see what happens. I found the passenger front wires at least. -
I'm sure given the age of the Comanche; i'm not the only one leaving oil stains of one type or another on the driveway. Whats a good store bought or home brewed cleaner to make the driveway like new again. Stains don't bother me none, but the lady on the other hand..

I found a list of all the wires and their purpose. one wire Red is 12volts Constant, and one is a 12v Switched power. Do both of these need to be hooked up for the radio to function? I only wired the constant and the ground(before i learned about these wires) and couldn't get the radio working. The fuses under the dash are ok, and so is the one on the radio's wire. -
is the ground right on or near the tank?

so did the 86' Custom have four speakers? I can't find the wires to the speakers, what color are they? I don't have any speakers at all. Do they have some kind of connector cause i have a few unconnected wires. or would it just be easier to route my own new wires from the aftermarket cd players wire harness. -
I got my 86' without a stock radio or speakers but an aftermarket one that needs to be wired in. I think I may mount two rear speakers while I'm at it too.
-
I don't know what happened, I checked the fuses and all the lights and both indicators light up with hazards. I can hear the clicking of the turn signal but no lights blink and no indicators flash. This is an 86' custom

Aside from the fact that the pump at the gas statio didnt click off, with a full tank the gauge reads nearly horizontal past full. Is this a bad fuel pump, or someone pulling off the needle(the gauge cluster cover is removed.

Comanche to Cherokee parts compatability

How'd the window(s) come out? -
Well, flooring it did kill it from Dieseling. I was think of doing an overnight piston soak with marvel mystery oil. I tossed a whole bottle of seafoam into the gas tank.

It's the 2.5l engine, after I've driven a ways and shut the truck off, it'll try and continue to turn over a few more times. I don't think all four cylinders are firing when it kicks itself around a bit more.

Comanche to Cherokee parts compatability

So i'm new around here, recently got an 86' custom 4x4 2.5, and there are plenty of cherokees in the junkyard for the picking. As i understand it the Comanche is simply a truck form of a cherokee, and should cross over in parts. I'm looking for a front bumper to replace the bent one i have now, so i can mount some driving lights to it. It needs some more work besides this, but i want to give the halogen headlights some help.
