yeah, that I know about and is documented, think the guts of an XJ has been transplanted, but unsure what bits from what years. Interior is 93-96 XJ, front end appears to be post 97, brakes are post 97, unsure of the engine (looks like a HO??) a complete bitsa

ohh yeah, so a complete front graft below the screen, not ideal structually

Have some more photos, looks like an XJ bulkhead has been welded into an MJ, would need a good look at it to see how good the work was, but looking at the welding I don't think I will bother
-
yes, and it will cause issues on the insurance front if it is converted from LHD to RHD over here. Seller is adament that it is factory RHD for the Japanese market, as I said, BS.
-
Thanks, thought it would be a US truck, asked for pictures of the bulkhead, not put me off, just it will affect its value.

VIN is 1JTH56416HT144874 what does this tell me?

Okay, so a RHD MJ has popped up on ebay in the UK, I am interested however the seller is stating that its a factory RHD that was supplied to the Japanese market then imported to the UK, I smell BS. I am right in thinking that there was never a factory RHD MJ? I know early UK XJs were actually built LHD and converted to RHD by a company here in the UK before the US factory produced genuine RHD XJs, I am wondering if this MJ got the same treatment. I have requested the VIN to see if I can figure out what it is. It is a bit too far just to wander over to see if it has a RHD XJ front cab section welded onto an MJ LOL

I am fitting the front seats and both axles & steering from an old WJ to my MJ. Plan to chop the mounts from the rear 44 & truss it. Not the strongest axle I know but they were free, plus are 3.91 gears & varilocs, cheap way to disks all round & better brakes & steering setup. Mine is going no higher than 3" so the low pinion front axle won't be much of an issue

Dear me, the MJ has been stuck in a container for 11 months with no work! :( Start a new job next week with a decent pay raise, a mate is out of work at the moment so come the end of the month I am going to pay him to work on the jeep. Question is what are my spring options for the rear, wanting to be able to load up the back without it sagging too much. Looking at a 3" front & 4" rear lift without a load in the back.

Another Euro MJ :) Wish I had a garage to get the front end of my MJ in

Not been here for a while, good to see your photos. What are you doing electrics wise? I was planning on transplaning the XJ loom onto mine then custom wiring the rear end loom. Also how are you running the v8 ecu wise? I have just scored a 4.6 stroker for my build, still looking out for an XJ donor though -

have you got a photo of the bare RHD bulkhead? Need to decide how to do mine. You donor was a mk 1 wasn't it? I am planning to get a mk2 to break, best start practicing my welding! -

wow, alot chopped out! Is the bulkhead that different? would it not be easier to plate the original bulkhead and cut new holes? -
Yep, all UK WJs had the CV front shaft, I have a Tom Woods UJ shaft & yokes that was on my WJ before I went to a double double cardan shaft with the 4.5" lift that I will reuse on the MJ, will need shortening though.
-
nope, WJs have an A arm on the top that bolts into the top of the diff housing. Plan is to truss the alxe across the top off the diff & bolt into the top of the diff housing as it is an ally pumpkin so welding will be difficult. I also have 3 sets of spare WJ wheels about, would love some moabs but I am sure they never made it to the UK, never seen any about at least. I do have some 18"s of a JK but getting muds in 18"s over here is impossible

I am doing simliar with my MJ, have a set of 3.91 varilocks off a WJ sat doing nothing (D30 front, D44 rear) The MJ is only getting 31"s so will do for me, plan to truss the rear axle & bolt through the top of the diff where the WJ ball joint usually fits. Quick question (I am miles from my MJ) will a 2wd beam axle spring mount be okay to weld up to the D30 or are they totally different?

Anyone breaking a shell with a good roof? Mine has rot in the gutters and it may be easier just to replace the whole roof rather than repair. Would need shipping to the UK!!! thanks Steve

My MJ that has made it to the UK. 1990 Jeep Comanche 2wd 4.0L inline 6/AX-15 Was at some point at Florida State Uni as it has a parking permit. Its a project truck thats getting rebuilt this year.

Been put in touch with another UK MJ owner, this is the truck I wanted last year but missed out on, pointed him in this direction.
-
from my brief look over it the underside seems very solid, has surface rust but nothing scaby or holed. Bed is in good condition, just a few bubbles alond the tailgate bottom, best bit is the deck is very straight, no dints in the wheelarches. Only downside is the cab gutters.
-
 best laid plans etc. There is a car restoratration shop up the road from me, think I will just drop the shell off there for all the repairs to be done.
