  1. I think the operable windows were based on trim level, not model year.
  2. Sold this one a while back. Image Not Found Image Not Found
  3. Generally, I put the shims back in that were there when I took it apart. Lacking that, I would add shims until the noise goes away. The older shop manuals had you disconnect the solenoid and manually engage it, then shim until you could get a wire of a given thickness in between the meshed gears.
  4. Pulled it back from Wichita, KS on a Uhaul. 600 miles, 17mpg, no problem, trans only downshifted twice the whole trip.
  5. You bet, I am near Two Harbors.
  6. MN collector plate are around $100, good for life with no annual fees, you'll need an '88 or older though.
  7. Where at in KS was this gem stowed away? - Wichita Lets here about these options. - AW4, PS, PB, PW, PDL, CC, Delay wipes, Delay lights, clock, Jensen sound, map lights, leather, rack, chrome strips in luggage area, clock, vanity and map lights, roof rack, the aforementioned chrome tow hooks, Does it have the sentinel fluid monitoring unit by chance? - How do I tell? Now here's the real question... How's the interior and can I haz pictures of insides? - Interior is maybe 8/10, no rips or cracks, but fading, I had to put a headliner it, of course. See pix below. Does it have the rear axle disconnect for flat towing? - I do not see that Are you on cherokee forum? - I checked it out, but this place is much cooler. More pix from today,my driveway is a mudpit with all the melting snow, I am getting the windshield replaced on Wednesday. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  8. It's not so much that the 2.8's are so bad. The fact that they are GM sourced turns off the hardcore jeepers for sure. it more that the 2.5 and 4.0 are so good.
  9. Good evening, I am a long time lurker, owned my share of MJ's and XJ's. Here is the newest member of my fleet. Sat for 13 years in a dry garage in KS until I removed it 2 weeks ago. Parked for unknown reasons. 2 weeks later I have it operational and roadworthy. I can't believe it sat on CL for a month at $800, but it did. Completely rust free, 130K. It is the most optioned out XJ I have seen. Check out the factory chrome tow hooks! Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  10. Here is the highest option MJ I have seen. I sold it 4 years ago and regret it. It now resides in MD I think. Laredo, 4.0, 5 spd, AC, PW, PL, AC, CC, tilt, buckets, console, gauges, wheels, cargo light, and courtesy lights, etc. I removed the roll bar and brush guard before the repaint because I doubted they were original, I may have been wrong about that. 11. That is one wasted clutch! Yes, bleeder is on passenger side. The new slave will have it.
  12. Update: New clutch, exhaust, radio, shocks, etc, etc installed. 62 K miles! Also a pic of my "no cost" courtesy light repair. Sorry for the fuzzy pic. I bend the tab that usually contacts the roller to make contact wth the side that goes to the b/w wire, epoxy the blade into position and hold it temporarily with a tie wrap till the epoxy sets, then use a side cutter to clip off the roller. Wrap some duct tape around the outside to make up for the broken tabs and you are good to go. Image Not Found Image Not Found
  13. 4th would still work normally. Good call. In all honesty, I keep thinking tcase stuck in neutral, maybe linkage to selector broken somehow.
  14. Here are a few other only conclusions: stripped splines in clutch? center part of disc broken out? broken trans input shaft? Trans input to cluster gear stripped? Broken trans mainshaft? Tcase chain broken? Tcase gears stripped? I could go on..
  15. North Shore of Superior = just outside Two Harbors I try to buy'em clean and keep them that way. Other Jeeps currently owned: 88 Wrangler (Plow truck) 08 GC 3.0 Diesel (wife's) and of course the 53 Willy's PU project (project In hay barn waiting for the right owner)
  16. Wish I could. I sold it to a guy out East. He must be around here somewhere,
  17. Hi, just joined. I was looking for a new Daily Driver and came across this 62K mile 2wd 2.5. A little rough around the edges, but it should clean up well. First orders of business clutch, exhaust shocks. I am a keep it stock kind of guy. Image Not Found This is my 5th MJ. Here is my first 2wd 4.0 5 speed: Image Not Found My second a 4.0 4wd AT (winter beater) Image Not Found My third, and still just about the coolest MJ I have seen Laredo 5 spd 4.0 AC PW CC Auto headlights etc, etc Image Not Found my fourth pulled out from behind a barn down the road Image Not Found
