  1. I arrived in Texas where the temperatures are warmer and I haven't experienced any leaking so far. Not sure what is going on. The line from the master cyl to the slave is fine. I'm not sure how to figure out if the slave is leaking or not. It seems really coincidental that it isn't leaking anymore now that I'm in warmer climate.
  2. Master cylinder was replaced 6 months ago, no issues since. However, today after two days of below freezing weather and no driving time in that time period, I came out to find that my clutch pedal just sank to the floor. I checked my reservoir and I couldn't see any oil whatsoever. I filled it back up and drove it around for about 20 miles and the clutch is fine again. No signs of leakage above the fuse panel. Any ideas on what the issue could be? Could it somehow be the cold weather?
  3. I've had the same problem for a while now. I have tightened everything I could possibly think of and it still makes a popping noise when I reach full lock. I have not checked the control arm bushings though. Maybe this will give me a reason to swap them for WJ ones..

  5. I replaced all of my speakers with some high end Alpines and put a 10" Polk DX Series sub behind the seat. It's incredibly loud on the inside and everything is nice and crisp. It doesn't "bump," but then again I didn't want people to hear me coming from a mile away...
  6. I inherited mine from my grandfather. He bought it off the lot with 8 miles on it. I can remember riding in it all the time, so naturally I bought it from my grandmother when he passed. IMO no other truck has the same kind of character that the Comanche does.
  7. 1988 Pioneer Olympic Edition 4.0L / Ba 10/5 / SWB Built: Feb 1988 Currently residing with me in Norman, OK Only 120,xxx miles on her, no rust whatsoever. She runs like a champ and is my DD and also my project as money allows.
  8. So basically just cut the bottom portion of the hinge off? That simple? How easily does it lift off?
  9. I'm looking to make the doors on my 'manche easily removable. I was wondering if y'all had any tips on the best way to do this. Thanks for the help y'all.
  10. I just installed a new radio a couple months ago and today it decided to completely turn off. I checked all the wire connections and they're good, the fuses are good as well. I am thinking it may have something to do with the ground wire. Any thoughts? I kept the original radio and tried putting that one back in to see if it was the new radio that died, but that one wouldn't turn on either.
  11. Okay so when I get my hands on the R12 how do I recharge it?
  12. So I have the stock AC system in my 1988 Comanche, but it only seems to blow cold air if its not too hot outside. Since my truck is generally parked in the sun this is a problem. It always seems to blow lukewarm-hot air. Any ideas why?
  13. 5.25" in the front and 4x6" in the back.
  14. My friend had a similar problem to what you are describing yesterday. He described it feeling like there was a blockage in the clutch as well. He couldn't get it into gear at all. Turns out his throw out bearing broke and in result basically he is doing a whole transmission swap. Based on your description this probably isn't the reason, but its worth checking... :dunno:
  15. Is there a way to for sure tell if it's the slave cylinder that's leaking besides process of elimination? Can you see it leaking while looking at the tranny?
  16. Clutch, I think I got confused as well. If the reservoir is losing fluid then the only places it could leak from are either the master cylinder, the hose or the slave cylinder correct?
  17. Could this be the problem instead of the slave cylinder? I know the P.O. said something about leaking brakes, but he also said he fixed the problem... :hmm:
  18. I am not sure I can drop the tranny though...I am not too experienced in that area and if I mess something up I will be without a vehicle until I can afford to have it fixed. Anyone in the Katy, TX area want to give a guy a hand ;)
  19. Thanks for the advice. I believe I will just drive my friend's wrangler rather than risking my Comanche  Wranglers aren't nearly as cool.
  20. Noticed that my fluid level has been dropping about every two months. I checked the master cylinder and the hose that connects the slave cylinder to the master cylinder. I suppose this means my slave cylinder is leaking. My question is what are the consequences of not changing the slave cylinder? I don't have the money right now to change it. Will this lead to further complications or will I just have to refill fluid every now and again?
  21. So my truck has never seen a bit of mud in all its years. Everything is bone stock and I was wondering what, if anything, would I be in danger of breaking while going mudding. I have no desire to do any hill climbing or anything difficult for that matter, so I guess my question is what is liable to go wrong and do y'all think it would be a bad idea? The truck is in relatively good shape all around. Its a 1988 4x4 6 cylinder. It has 110,000 miles on it and for the 6k miles I have had it nothing has needed replacing. Appreciate the help y'all. :D
  22. Alright. That saved me a lot of grief. Thanks for the help y'all. :waving:
  23. I pulled the carpet today and found that there is no oil anywhere on the firewall. It seems to only be on the fuse block. I know that the previous owner replaced the CMC recently. Could this oil just be left over from when it was leaking? What are the places oil would be if there was a leak?
  24. Found oil on my fuse block. Is there a way to repair the leak without replacing the whole CMC?
  25. I am going to be investing in some new shocks soon and I was wondering what the best for my money would be if I wanted something that will give me a firmer ride with less lean around the corners. Thanks for the help. :wrench:
