  1. Yea this thing is frusterating. It just look like it doesnt fit into place.
  2. Has anyone have problems installing the boostwerks TC linkage with a manual transmission. I have tried for the last hour to try to get this thing installed. My MJ is completely stock. Has anyone have any tips to get this thing in easier. Thanks
  3. I just finished putting in the AX-15 in my 87 MJ. I ended up using a later model transfer Case. Does anyone know the length of the driveshaft I need? I measured 49 in. but that doesnt sound right. Also my mj is at stock height i'm planning to lift it 3 in. will I be able to use the same driveshaft? Thanks
  4. I am currently in the middle of my 4wd conversion on my 1987 MJ. Just recently finished my AX-15 installation. On the way home I saw a 94 Cherokee with the AX-15 with a blown engine. The owner just wants to get rid of it and told me to take it off his hands for a steal. Will the drive shafts fit my MJ? I need the front and rear DS for my conversion. I'm going to take the parts I need and scrap the rest.
  5. Not really. The junkyards around here are not great. BTW where are you in VA? I just moved from Richmond and there are 3 pick-n-pulls and quite a few traditional yards that I've had good luck with. I'm in Northern Virginia...
  6. Not really. The junkyards around here are not great.
  7. I am finishing up my AX-15 installation and I am missing the transfer case linkage. I looked into the Novak linkage but it is a little pricey. Has anyone used another linkage that worked. Has anyone used the 231 HD Shift Linkage (Manual Trans) - Boostwerks Engineering. The price is awesome compared to the Novak. What's the difference between the two? Thanks
  8. Thanks got it.. That was not fun at all.
  9. I'm in the process of installing my AX-15 and it just won't go in the last quarter inch of the engine. It seams to get hung up and the lip of those alignment pins on the engine. I have also checked to make sure that there are only one set of pins on the engine. Everyone says not to use the bolts to pull the two together. But it keeps getting hung up on that lip. If those aligment pins were not there the there would no probelem. Also I can feel the transmissin engaged in the clutch. Any help will be apreciated..
  10. Thanks Pete for all the help. I'm sure I'll be back on here to ask for more help.
  11. Thanks for all the help
  12. There is a connector for the reverse light on the transmission. I spliced the AX15 connector to the BA10 reverse light harness. The speedometer cable will need to be replaced with a longer 4wd version, as its in the Transfer case instead of the transmission. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The newer transfer case has a totally different plug for the speedometer than my 87 MJ.
  13. What would I have to use for the speedo and reverse lights? The newer TC does not have anywhere to hook up the speedo cable?
  14. Thanks i'll look into it
  15. Where can I find a driveshaft that will work with the newer transfercase?
  16. Yes Pete... I have the newer style NP231. When I compared my 2wd driveshaft to the newer TC there is no way the DS is going to slip back on. Do I need to get the older style TC to make everything work? I never thought abought using another strap to secure the tranny. The pictures cleared that right up. Thanks
  17. Yesterday I started my AX-15 swap on my 87 MJ 4.0 2wd. First off let me start by saying that I have never undertook a project like this. This was my first time dropping the peugeot ba 10/5 transmision let alone any transmission for that matter. It took me and the wife 2 days to drop it because I wanted to make sure that it was done correctly and I was in no rush. I read numerous write ups on how to do it and for the most part removing the transmission was fairly easy. The torx bolts were not a problem at all everyone suggested to use 3 feet of extensions and that made the job go smooth. Before I proceed with installing the AX-15 I have a couple of concerns. First everyone suggested that my stock driveshaft will need to be cut to size. When I was comparing my 1998 Jeep Cherokee transfer case the output shaft looked totally different than my stock driveshaft. Did I get the wrong transfer case or will I have to get a different drive shaft? Second I used the harbor freight transmission jack that everyone sugested on here and that worked awesome. But the peugeot ba 10/5 is a baby compared to the AX-15. Would it be easier to attach the tranny and transfer case together or seperate them.. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again for all the help.
  18. Thanks for all your input.
  19. Can anyone suggest which ball joints to go with? I was looking around and everything I read is that the ball joints from MOOG have gone down in quality? Thanks
  20. Can someone post a picture of what the emergency brake switch looks like installed in their MJ? Mine doesn't engage when I push the brake in. The light does work in the dash. Need this switch to get my Jeep back on the rode, Thanks
  21. What size pilot bearing/bushing would I need for an AX-15 out of a 98 XJ?
  22. I am looking for the crossmember for a AX-15? PM me if you have one.
