Thanks for the suggestion, however I'd already cleaned the Idle Air Controller pintle and seat -
Engine Idle quesion... (IAC, MAP, TPS, Temp units)
skidoo_j replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well due to lack of response I've started on another guess and check... Today while the truck was stuck on high idle i adjusted the throttle stop screw until it was at 550 rpm. Now I'll see if when it used to come down to that area it just dies or ???? -

57 views and no response??? I've stumped you guys too? :???: -
Please Read entire scenario Prior to comment THX. I have an 89 4.0 comanche with 129k I recently put the dynomax headers on. When I did this I also removed the EGR valve from the header and replaced with a 1/4" plate. I also plugged the egr tube ext on the exhaust and on the intake. removed vacuum and plugged lines to egr and air box. also installed a new o2 sensor by bosch. So here's my question... When i start the truck from cold (or rest for 15 min or more) it will run at 1100 rpm and drop pretty fast to 700 ish rpm's. and will stay at this idle speed for extended periods. I've even created a vacuum leak and then plugged and it will return to this speed. According to the FSM It appears this is with in spec. However when i drive the truck around and pull up to stop or park in the garage the truck will not come down off of 1100 rpm unless I strain the motor (hold brake and let off clutch). then it will idle at 700 ish rpm. since i've noticed this problem (very plausible existed prior to install of header) I have: Plugged vacuum that controls heater vlv at the manifold. removed the Idle air controller and cleaned the pintle and throttle body seat (was nasty) cleaned entire throttle body. replaced oil fill cap w/ new inspected all throttle cable linkage. used propane / starting fluid / and wd40 searching for vacuum leaks at this high idle.... three different times. around rusy's tb spacer and all intake ports i can get access to. Is this normal behavior with our renix type systems? My VW GTi does this but the ecu has sensors for speed and keeps engine rpm higher than idle until at complete stop for a minute or so to prevent me from coasting and then putting in gear at low engine rpm while going 60 mph. I could not find any such sensor in the fsm except the CPS but that monitors crank rotations not vehicle speed. The Jeep will not come down off this 1100 rpm like i said unless i strain the motor. I"ve also previously adjusted the Throttle position sensor according to factory. but did not replace. I'm just kinda lost at a potential cause for this issue unless it's normal behavior as vacuum is kinda hard to believe as a cause because straining the motor should not create or eliminate a vacuum leak to drop it down hence why i think it's electrical but ???

quadratec should have their crap worked out. What i learned is to ask if they drop ship through crown or are stocking... if they drop ship you're good to go. quadratec was stocking and their inventory was incorrect.. 4x4parts or morris had the correct photo. Only reason quadratec corrected their info was because of my order. call and order through quadratec and ask to order through keith and tell him shaye recommended you order through him. :) They show correct product. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/coolant-bo ... 03213.html

On monday the 19th I spoke with quadratec again. They seemed to be in the same position they were 17 days prior. So I sent an email to Crown regarding my issue. With in 30 minutes I had an email back from crown clarifying that they are not the direct suppliers to quadratec for the bottle I had ordered. They stated they had plenty in stock and had no such issues. He also carbon copied the email to 4 people at quadratec including, two managers. Needless to say by 2 that same day I received notification of shipment. Fingers are crossed that they didn't just send me another power steering reservoir.

I'm still waiting on resolve from quadratec. They tell me that Crown Automotive sent them the Power steering res with the coolant bottle part number hand written on it. I contacted Crown in Nevada and they said they've had no such complaints or issues... Called quadratec back today, now a full week from when I notified them of the issue and no solutions. I was told that they have 3 people working on it at crown. Now I've got quadratec's Crown Automotive sales rep name and number. He had today off What a headache for a coolant bottle. I had to drive the truck so now the overflow hose is just dumping on the ground.

quadratec had some issues with their inventory and for some reason sent me part 52003130 the power steering res. Keith at quadratec is working diligently to rectify it. Apparently they had several that were mis-marked and he is now locating the correct one to ship out. They have good cust service so far. will post once resolved.

From what I've noticed with mine is if it is not on hot all the way i get air through the vent selection. If you're getting cold air or a draft when it is all the way on hot then your mixer cable needs adjusted as mentioned before. its easy to see look under the dash on the passenger side and move the hot cold selector back and forth to find the lever. if it is bottoming out on the knob when at hot, then you should not feel a draft. I do not think there is any other sort of damper, if it is set to off that just turns the fan off and puts the diverter in a rest position. So if cold is still selected i think air will still pass through as the "mixer" or damper will allow air to pass, atleast this is the behavior of mine. So it's possible mine is defunct too with the on off selector, but if i put mine to off and hot, then i do not get a draft.

On mine it felt as if the air was coming out of the lower vents all the time. My guess is the air from under the vehicle came out the top of the console and it just felt like it was coming from those two vents. Maybe your problem is the mixer, but I would think you'd feel it on all vents as you switched the locations if it was slipping not just the two lower.

I have the same issue. I'd read that someone said it was the inner shift boot. I've purchased one and installed it now... Just waiting to see if I feel the cool air... It attaches to the floor pan sealing out air. I only found it at Quadratec It fit perfectly all though it doesn't list our vehicle. Mine was torn really bad.

Injector O-rings, Nozzle Clip, Rail O-rings
skidoo_j replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well Ive decided that when I pull my old ones I will take photos of the ports and post them. when I had the entire manifold off And cleaned everything I do not remember there being a seat. Also when watching their videos The pintle caps are not on the injectors in their test phases and the spray patterns are still fans. I figure Not there on originals 1 of two things they either didn't come with them, or they cracked off and burned up. the only way i'm going to leave them on is if i see a seat for them to contact as i'm 90% sure pintle caps were out in 89 and if the cap improved the spray pattern in any way I wouldn't imagine they would have not used $0.02 worth of plastic. After all I do not thing the beanie style pintle that is included on the injectors in anyway would improve the spray pattern. The hole in the center is too big compared to the micro holes the fuel come out of. From what I read they are only designed to prevent build up on to the tip of the injector that may cause issues. And with my luck they'd fall through on the first start and stick a valve open. -

Got my injectors from precision today... 206 cc rated. arrived in 3 days. fast shipping very happy. Used the comanche club discount and picked up two sets. Will be installing them next week as i'm still wanting to break in the dynomax headers. -
I would really appreciate that. I'll order a new tank tomorrow if you can confirm the cap by dorman fits :) I figure something like this is out there because crown makes the tank and not a cap, so someone must make the cap. After all if your tank rots out odds are the cap is bad too. I unfortunately do not have the tank or the cap to go to the parts stores to mate up. Thanks again

Looking for the bottle and cap Looking for the bottle style that is curved for the wheel well. Thanks. I can get ahold of the tank new, but cannot find the cap and baffle anywhere. So even if it's just the cap I'm still interested.
