woah... would it be possible to get a SCAN of that body and frame alignment page? what book did THAT come out of anyway??
-
YES you absolutely are playing with fire on this one but it's nearly justified by the cool vehicle choice why not get a beater j box?
-
it's more of a time thing than anything isnt it? =[

8th digit of vin = "L" diff cover is that second one. sweet, I have a Dana 35 what does this mean though? lol. I have no idea what I have in my hands, is it a locker? how much is it worth? I'm planning on replacing the entire rear end with an axle with 4 trailing arms and a watts linkage. So I may want to sell it to offset the costs. I got this jeep for $500. btw
-
So what are the levels? Apparently I can spell Comanche now.
-
I've lost the link, but there are FSM floating around the net. If you can't find it, i'll email or host it somewhere for you. The order and torque you put the bolts down in are VERY important. and no, with a proper pre cut gasket, no sealant is needed.

This is my first project car, as well as my first pickup and jeep. All I can say now is that I am hooked, and 100% a jeep guy. I'm seriously considering a trail rig after everything I've seen: a TJ maybe. But for now, the MJ is the street jeep. I met some guys at work today who are jeep aficionados. They claim that the MJ is NOT a real JEEP because: -it's a damn pickup -it's not a 'vert -not a wrangler My counter argument: -it's got the same axles -same motors -signature grille -and offroad prowess (in 4wd form) Well, help me with the argument!

Mine have developed two quarter sized holes. I'd much rather replace them than the patch bondo jobs How Do i replace them? And is replacement ok for structural integrity? Are they spot welded? Do I just drill out these spots and go on sherman parts and order new rocker panels to weld in? Thanks in advance!

Sweet. keep it up guys. BTW - how do you identify HD rear axles? "metric tonne package"? Let's get some better pictures in this too! Calling pingpong's monster machine

sweet, thanks. Actually, I'm looking for header panels. I've called most junkyards in southern ontario and they all want $175 for it alone. When I asked for front clips, they wanted $1800. This is without engine or suspension; REDICULOUS. To top it off, no dash either: $300 for it. (planning on dash as well, will it fit??) Would someone be willing to help me source a front clip with dash from a 97+ cherokee from the states? I'm willing to pay someone for their time. Otherwise, i'm going to be buying aftermarket.

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... art=1&vc=1 roll on paint job TREMCLAD with mineral spirits to thin roll in in very very thin coats sand and buff inbetween layers Will start when I get my front clip/ 97+ grille gear

So i ended up salvaging a bunch of parts from the junkyard today, the mirror being one of them. I ended up getting a non folding mirror! So now the mirrors don't match on my MJ. No big deal, pass safety, get plates -> fix the old mirror/get 97+ mirror =] thanks everyone for your help.
-
hope i'm not being a bother with more questions than answers, it'll change soon! does anybody know if the 97+ XJ side mirrors are bigger? and w ill they fit on the comanche's doors?
-
I just realized this might be better off in the "pub" section

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_Comanche Come on guys! Pool your collective knowledge of the comanche on this wiki, let's immortalize the MJ. Let me just add that I absolutely love this Comanche. I was looking for an S-10 project car for a while, until I came across this awesome one of a kind truck.

oh sorry, left it out ROCKAUTO.COM best place to buy NEW auto parts online. If it weren't for rockauto, my '00 jimmy would be off the road. Take for example: $150 bearings vs. $500 locally $300 entire front end vs. over $1000 locally Customer support is top notch Shipping is FAST look at '98 cherokee for those parts

is it possible to mark a thread as "replied to" with a dot or some sort of marking? it's getting confusing as i frequent a few forums.

Just did a search on this, and was surprised that it wasn't more popular. I'm looking to update the look of my truck with the 97+ front going to the junkyard tommorrow and would like to make only one trip what do i need? and would someone who has done it mind writing up instructions? thanks in advance

holy $#!& pingpong... just looked at your buildup. how much does that monster weigh???
-
Great. Thanks for the heads up!! oh gosh, jeep engineers decided to use aluminum torx bolts. i stripped one

my enthusiastic crusade to get this truck on the road has broken a few things. One being the driverside mirror. I was adjusting for the best line of sight, and snapped the mirror off inside the housing (pushing on the mirror, not the knob). How Do i remove the entire assembly mirror. I wanna glue/fasten it back on. The factory service manual only has a section on power mirrors, and that's only a wiring diagram. Oh and I tried taking out the setscrew below the knob. no avail Thanks in advance!
