  1. Made some out of old truck tool boxes I got for free! You can get two sets of door panel out of the lids. The bottom of the tool box I mad my back of the cab plate where they had a carpet panel? Mine had no interior when I got it. It’s a complete rebuild restore..sort of. I’m in Texas and it gets hot. Shot em with harbor freight bedliner so they shouldn’t get to hot not to mention sound deadened and insulated the back side. I’m disabled so my funds ain’t what they used to be. Put my funds into the suspension drive train ect. Old 60’s trucks had metal door panels and headliners. Drove em for years. But I will have a/c. Here’s a picture of my cab plate or whatever to wanna call it. Not good at pictures but you can see what I got goin on.
  2. Thank you!!!! You rock brother! You have no idea how this has helped me. Be posting pictures on mine asap!
  3. Thank you! Do you have one of the front at the windshield? Looks like it ties off at the back glass rubber. Am I correct? Promise I want pester! Just been trying to figure it out cause the back panels look like they sit a bit lower and the front has a huge gap between the roof and the glass.
  4. I need a picture of the headliner to the windshield and a picture of the back of the headliner! Please can’t find any online and mine didn’t have interior when I got it so need a pic to go off of so I can build mine. Did a version but it didn’t look right so took it out and hopin someone will help out here. I’ve scorched the internet and zero on the back of the headliner where it meets the back window and the ones of the front blow! Any help would rock!
  5. Gonna put some 6.5 with a mid range in the door handle blank and a tweeter on the mirror cover. Doin 6x9 in the cab rear with a tweeter in the dome light area. Movin the dome light to rear top like the old trucks. Maybe some subs under the seat Found a guy who gets cutoffs from some place and sells it pretty cheap. Doin the headliner as well. Tye cherokee is gonna punch me in the face if I do it in one piece. Thinkin bout doin it in 3 with 2 seams. Made one set for the cherokee out of some old tool boxes a friend gave me. You can get two out of one.

  7. Just wanted to show off my door panels I made! Tore the top plastic piece out of the old ruined door panels sanded down the center tab. Laid the old one on some tread bright aluminum made a stencil grabbed a grinder cut and smoothed. Put some sound deadener on the back…sheets of butyl tape pretty much. Lined everything and screwed it on! These are in the comanche, makin a set for the Cherokee now, then it’s time to move to the next phase of the build! Thought about leaving em polished but the shine was to much and then the keepin clean so some hf bedliner and shot em!
  8. Thank you guys so much! Il post pics soon as I finish up the interior. Then on to the next phase!
  9. Just a question, will the hvac box out of a 92 Cherokee fit in an 86 comanche? Or do I need one year closer? Thanks in advance
  10. Ok got gobs of help from you guys so thought I’d try to pass it on! Tye dash in my comanche was toast so took one out of a cherokee. When I say toast I mean no padding broken everywhere so tossed it. The dash I have was in pretty bad shape so the repaired it. Lots of info and ways to go about it but this was the cheapest and easiest way, not to mention the only one I’ve ever done. Was gonna use bondo but I don’t like bondo even for what it’s supposed to be used for. Those get about fiberglass and almost went that route. Looked into the padded dash filler stuff but decided to use something else. Jb weld marine was what I decided to use cause it stays a bit flexible thought this would be perfect but last second I decided on jb weld plastic bonder. Basically cleaned dash filled in the openings and cracks let dry and sanded with a mouse palm sander. Kept repeating til the gaps were full. It’s a bit runny but if you let it sit bout 10 mins or so it’s starts to thicken and get real sticky. Once it sanded to a level I could live with I shot it with harbor freight iron armor bedliner. Stuff is amazing! I’d let dry sand clean respray til I had the finish I wanted and that’s it. I did spray a coat of bedliner on it before I started to track fill in process. Done for less than $15! You can coat it with a lacquer coat to make cleaning easier later on. I wouldn’t use polyurethane. Plastic is for toys and vibrators. Hate that stuff. It provides a super tough finish but one scratch and you can’t blend it regardless what tools you have. Plus you either have the I just wrapped this in cellophane or dipped it in a vat of goo. I used to repair high end and collector guitars and poly sucks! Lacquer has a much nicer finish and easy to work with. It will burn into itself so touch ups are a breeze. With poly it won’t ever pass the light test. You will see a wave or blur no matter how hard you try. Anyway I digress. Here are the pics and I know they ain’t great but best I can do. Gonna spray a satin clear on it. Hope this helps some of you guys as it’s either try to find one not busted and pay $500 or 600, live with the cracks, use tape, or do those ugly carpet over lays. Sorry if your one who uses a carpet overlay but I’ve always thought they were ugly. Better than cracks but not by much. Peace
  11. Does the ecm control the ac?
  12. It’s an 86. Had no engine when I got it but I believe he said it was a 4 banger. Not sure what you mean by what you mean signature with vehical I’d. Be happy to make one if you don’t mind tellin me how. I’m putting in a carbed sbc 327 to be exact. Thanks for any help
  13. The sbc has one
  14. Can anyone tell me what these are for and can I ditch em? I’m goin with a carburetor stick shift sbc. Pulled the ecm? The renix Mosul but it connects to here and I don’t wanna chunk anything I may need. Also will ditch the electronic fuel pump. Only creature comfort is ac. Otherwise everything is mechanical. Manuel windows locks tranny ect. I have a Haynes somewhere but not sure where and don’t wanna buy another. Thanks in advance!
  15. I want a bench seat. Unable to find one that’s not completely destroyed or doesn’t have a price that’s like a punch in the face! What have you guys used? My dog is too big for buckets.
  16. Yes I know the fashion thing is rock slides these days. But much like my clothes I stick to what I like and can use. I’m never out of style! Although I’m never in style either so that may be why. Anyway I digress, I’m wanting to put some nerf bars on my comanche. Don’t want the long down the side of the bed ones just the cab. I can definitely say I doubt I ever rock climb but have been known to play in the mud and go thru water. The nerf bars do help by givin you a ledge to step on to observe the grade ect, plus always thought they looked cool, I’m old ok? Anyway was wondering if anyone has these on and what did you use? I scored a set of smittybuilt for my cherokee and got another set I was gonna thro on the comanche but think they would fit my yj better. Guy didn’t know what those went to. Got a cutting torch and welder so I can put em on whatever I want. Just thought there might be some that would just bolt up. If not it’s torch welder time. Again thank you guys for your knowledge and guidance. Trust me when I say it ain’t been in vain!
  17. Thank you guys so much! Been lookin at the redhead. This jeep world is so different from when I was building back in the day! Your choice was this and well that’s it. Pull the old one off and put the new one on. Very thankful for everyone on here and their knowledge! Can only imagine what it was like in the early years of trial and error! Merry Christmas to you all!
  18. Will do. It rained all day today. Just keep hitting me as I tend to have a very lax memory. Rolled an oil tanker in 08 so my short term memory is really short term
  19. I have been reading on all these Durango, s10, psc ect swaps. I have driven everything under the sun power, non power, rack and pinion, ect. I have driven several cherokees. However I have not driven one with a lift or 33” tires. Is it really that big of a deal? I’m gonna run 33 and definitely won’t be goin larger. I am gonna change out my steer boxes on all three builds for a couple reasons. 1st they have been sitting out side for who knows how long with open line connections, 2nd they are all from the 80’s and I’m sure that doesn’t help plus I have no idea how much abuse they have had. I do know my comanche was an Arizona fire truck. Yj came from Canada ended up north of Houston, and my cherokee had some sub par issues. Figured while I’m replacing everything I may as well replace everything. My question is is there anything wrong running a stock box? What’s the downside? I realize these are Jeeps and not really what I’d call plush cushy rides. Nor am I building them to be. If it lands somewhere between no power and power steer effort levels that’s fine but little banged up and aged a bit for no power steer feel. Any suggestions? These will see mostly road some off road and mud. Not a rock hopper nor do I care to be. Rolled enough cars to last me a few life times. Plus I don’t have that kind of money. These will have sbc in em as well as stick shift but the engine doesn’t really add anymore wieght than the original engine, 4.0 I did the new ball joints and the rugged ridge hd steering along with rubicon ex controls, drop box ect.
  20. I have one in an 87 and one in a 92. Il shoot you a pic tomorrow. Gonna pull the box out of the 92. But my comanche has an ac control just no ac box so to speak. Wouldn’t think it would be much. Do the priority mail box thing. As far as price really whatever you think is fair. I’m needy and not greedy. Gotta pull dash anyway so no extra work really.
  21. Didn’t realize I posted twice on here. I do post to a yj and a cherokee one when I post as I have three builds. Yes the Cherokee and comanche are the same front but there are some differences in the years I have. And yes they are one year apart but the front end clip inside is different. Some sites respond quicker some don’t. You can always just read the one and ignore the other as well. Will try to be more attentive in the future.
  22. Not sure where your at but I have a couple extra control modules your welcome to one if you want.
  23. Just curious if anyone else has ever thought about doin this. Power steering fluid gets pretty hot. Can go up to 300+. I was thinking about a transmission cooler and plumbing it in. Then thought he’ll my radiator has transmission ports why not use that? All my Jeeps are sticks so it’s not used. Just curious if anyone can poke holes in this idea. Not to the power steering part of my builds but mind is always turning, got at least another year on em. What do you think?
  24. Yea il have to figure that out as well cause these after markets don’t have that either. Thank you brother!
  25. Hello my peeps! I know there is info on this but can’t find it so thought I’d ask the powers that be! I’m wanting to install new steering columns in my Cherokee comanche and yj. Movin the windshield wiper to the dash and getting rid of the key in the column as well. My question is can you put a shorter column in? Say your column is 32” can you put a 30” in? Basically to give a fat boy a bit more room? I personally don’t see why not but I’ve never done this. I’ve replaced with same units but never a different length. I figured as long as the blinker lever ain’t into the das and the mounting cup is same length to the end of the shaft it would work? Please feel free to poke holes in my theory. Haven’t bought the column yet and the mounting cup will have to be solved as they don’t seem to come with em. The little cup thing on the end of the column that bolts to the floor. Don’t know what it’s called but you get the idea. As always many many thanks!
