  1. Say i want to go with this xj lift http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant ... y_Code=XLK i know the soa is going to be an issue but what do i have to do to get this lift on my mj.. or does it even fit? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Nothing set in stone but i've shook hands with a guy that said as soon as he got the title to his 87 comanche. for my 4x4 donor. the body's a little rusty and i wouldn't sit anything on the floors over 20 lbs if you get what i'm saying.. and its a long bed BUT... It's got a dana 44 :D should have it in 6-8 weeks from now. i'll keep you guys updated

Alright. it's been a long time since i've put up anything new but layla's had a lot of work done to her so i think it's time to get everyone back up to speed :jump: SOOO... the head cracked and that's what caused the water to get into the oil.. NEW MOTOR TIME :) i decided to buy a rebuilt long block from united engines in wichita.. took them forever to find the amc head I degreased and painted all the inner fender wells.. I know i'll love myself for that later :D I've already got 2000 miles on the new motor and she's running like a champ. NOW. i'm looking for a 4x4 donor cherokee.. wish me luck... or you can help me out :D i've been looking forever.
  4. ok. thanks for the help everyone! i have a 2wd so i don't have to worry about the transfer case. i've got a few pictures that i'm going to put on my build page once i'm done with this. I'm going to united engines and getting a brand new engine with 0 miles on it. :wrench:
  5. ok. i gotta ba10/5 and a 4.0, it's ready to pull but i don't know where all the bolts are between the bellhousing and the motor. i got the four lower bolts but which ones do i take off on the top? then once i get that off.. is the clutch gonna give me any problems? this is my first motor pull so any additional info would be appreciated :wrench:

  7. ok. next thing i'm gonna try is completely cleaning my fuel system. i'm gonna drop the tank and clean it then put a new filter in
  8. And its this while the engine is hot or cold, under load or idling. And i just put a new coil in ill try that egr valve thing but i doubt it works. Its a new egr valve too
  9. My throttle body is clean and i have a fairly new iac sensor in. Could it be the ignition control module?
  10. Thanks. Ill try bypassing it after school. Ive got a half a tank on the new head gasket so i know its primed

I've got an 89. 4.0 When i try to start it, it fires up and revs to ~1500 then falls on its face. i put in a new fuel pump, new fuel filter and new fuel pressure regulator valve, i unplugged the tps and it didn't make a difference, same thing with the iac valve, i got it to run for a little bit today and i couldn't hear any vacuum leaks but once it was up to temp it wanted to idle at about 1200. .. HELP
  13. well Layla started to act up a couple weeks ago. she would just die as i was driving, she was lacking power so i checked everything and there was water in the oil.. so here we go.. so i broke out the shop-vac and putty knife and went to work. i rigged up a straw and duct tape to get down around the lifters. I spend a whole day and a half of the build just cleaning. time to go back together. got the head torqued down and the rockers back on.... didn't get a pic of the cleaned block and pistons, i was on a roll and just kept moving nice and clean with a new thermostat housing because i broke the old pot metal one.. and today i just got done putting in a new heater core.. :headpop: only if we all had the dash of a cj..
  14. How many original or rebuild miles do u have on your mache? Ive got 209xxx and just put in a new head gasket keep 'em going
  15. how about this kicker.. pulled the head today, antifreeze in 5,6,and 3 cylinders... PRAYING FOR A BAD GASKET!! but the gasket looks fine, looks like a cracked block but i'm gonna search for that crack to be 100% sure another question.. Will a carb. 258 out of a 80 cj fit?

  17. My truck keeps shutting off when I'm going down the road in gear and the last few times it wouldnt restart. It would turn over and act like it was goingto start then fall on its face. Its would restart in about 15 min. Then i found this milky looking crap in my air box coming from the pcv hose out of the valve cover but i can't see it on my dipstick
  18. thanks i got it fixed. i just turned up my radio for a few weeks and ignored it and it went away.
  19. OK! lets keep this ball rolling... Got my full license so she's been working a little on my buddy's land. been hailing a little trailer around :D so since my last post i've gotten the following done.. - new harmonic balancer - tool box - mounted my cb under the dash. (right above my right leg. doesnt get in the way at all) - new fuel injectors from precision auto injectors. they work great! - new oil pan gasket - new vacuum lines i know this isn't very exciting, just keeping you guys updated.. few pictures..   20. Ok. i'm picking this thread back up. I love the army green. i read this thread a long time ago and that color was stuck in my head so today i started the process and sanded and painted my hood today. I never actually read your whole thread but i really like what you've done to your "Joop". I hate to seem like i'm stealing your ideas but i came up with them before i saw ur thread. i'm planning rusty's offroad fender flares and rusty's 6.5 inch long arm kit :idea: i promise not to steal too much.
  21. -new power steering pump pulley after the last one snapped and my fan cut my belt. now it sqeaks! i've put a new water pump in, new idler pulley, checked all the bearings twice and i went with the higher quality serpentine belt the only thing out of the ordinary is that the belt rides further back on the fan pulley (also an idler pulley) and further forward on the water pump (towards the rad) I can also get it to stop by spraying it with belt conditioner but it comes back by the end of the day. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
  22. well i'm just making sure.. i figured it was from my friends peeling out at every red light then telling me they wear down fast :shake: and i'll be sure to rotate them against my love for the sound of off road tire's hum on pavement
  23. ok. next question.. i'm aiming for mud. and i want mickey thompson mtz but its a dd so i'm on roads most the time and i heard they wear down faster than atz. is there a huge performance difference in atz and mtz? is there an alternative that's better?

  25. I'm long over due for an update on this truck... Latest projects: -made custom design in headliner to keep it up (staple gun) :rotfl2: -new rear brake line. right side. old line broke in half -new passenger door window regulator -new positive battery cable..
