yes. I marked the D/S so it could be reinstalled same way.

awesome Pete! I would guess I need to drop the D/S to inspect this?

Thx..please let me know if you find any literature on these. I would love to find a part #. CR Laurence is still in business it appears so I will reach out to them for more info. It really didnt appear this was an aftermarket or dealer install. The cut out for sunroof looked stamped, not cut with a saw or wheel unless they were perfect. No saw marks, grinding, and perfectly straight cuts and round corners. Also- there is a factory bracket that was installed on the support directly in front of the dome light. Did not look like a generic bracket as it fit into the existing "rivet" holes for the dome light.

Truck is stock height. Never altered in any way. Everything is stock. 2WD so no transfer case to deal with. I guess i never considered anything in rear axle because vibration feel more front to center located. What rubber isolator should I be looking at? What's it called exactly? When I changed the u joints everything looked good in the tailshaft and the rear diff. And i did remember to mark the driveshaft so it went in the same position it came out. Thanks for the replies guys.

kinda like the full length floor console with the column shifter? Never seen one but hear they might exist. I'm building my own.

My truck has developed a slight vibration during highway driving above 65mph. Not death wobble, and not too bad but noticable enough. If I put it in neutral at speed, then back into drive, it instantly goes away for a while, and only occasionally returns. Ive replaced motor mounts, trans mount, new tires, all suspension components (ball joints, bushings, tie rods, shocks, etc) as well as the idler pulley, serpentine belt, new u joints in driveshaft, new front wheel bearings, and most recently new power steering pump and its still there. Rotated tires and its still there. It feels similar to what a "roaring" wheel bearing feels like when its going bad, but it ONLY happens at hwy speeds over 65. Since this is 2wd its the old school front wheel bearings, not the entire hub assembly like on a 4x4. I am stumped. Anyone have ideas? thx

Went to the pick n pull today and stumbled upon the most loaded up 88 cherokee limited Ive ever seen but it was rough. Looks like it has been sitting in the middle of a wildlife refuge for last 25+ years as the motor engine compartment was completely packed with nesting material by whatever used to call it home. Anyways, grabbed what I could and upon leaving, noticed it had a freakin sunroof (it blended into the filthly headliner so I didnt even notice it at first. Since it was all there and in decent shape I grabbed it. Got home and verified by an earlier post on CC that it is indeed a factory installed sunroof: GWB SUN ROOF - HINGED W/REMOVEABLE GLASS Anyone know how rare these are, and if they ever came in any MJ's as an option?
-
Thats why I love this forum. Do a quick search and..boom! Someone has answered the Q before I even asked it. I just today scored the same identical factory sunroof out of the most loaded up 88 cherokee I have ever seen. Leather seats, all power, 4x4 limited. It is identical to the one you posted above. Since I live in FL its probably going into the MJ in the near future.

Towing uhaul car trailer with comanche?
10thta replied to 10thta's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
that makes a lot of sense. Appreciate the explanation. I guess I will continue to rent the truck/trailer combo for now. -
Has anyone successfully rented a uhaul auto transport trailer (not the dolly) using your comanche? I tried on the uhaul site and no matter what vehicle I enter to tow with a comanche (ie- generic 4 dr kia), it won't allow me to proceed and says its "not recommended". I trip to local uhaul agent and they are stating a comanche is only rated at 2K lbs towing capacity, regardless of hitch setup, tow package, etc. Everything I have read shows at least 5K tow rated if properly equipped. I have an 89 2wd auto 4.0 that I really wanted to "properly equip" with one of krusty's hitches, trans cooler, and the GC rear brake upgrade. But, if I can't rent a trailer for occasional towing then no sense spending the time and money. I know these are now 30+ year old rigs and safety is a concern due to outdated technology, structural concerns, etc but this 32 yr old rig has been in texas since new and is probably more structurally sound than a lot of much newer northern trucks exposed to salt and rust. I was just curious if anyone has found a "legal" way to rent a car hauler using your comanche as your tow vehicle. thx

Getting ready to order rear brake drums and shoes for my 89 comanche. RA lists a few different sizes up to 2.5" wide. After looking at the forums here, I'm even more confused. From what I have read, it would appear the 10x2.5 rear drums only came with the dana 44 rear axle setup. However, I have a dana 35, verified by the pics (round vs squared off diff cover). According to the build sheet (also provided by CC), I have option code BKP = 10x2.5 rear drum brakes, but also have option code DRJ = Dana 35 wide rear axle. I know they are all 10" drums, but how do I know what width the shoes/drums are short of measuring them? Anyone encounter this as well? Thx

What auto trans options in 86 4x4 with 2.8L?
10thta replied to 10thta's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Appreciate the insights guys. So are there any other trans options for the 86 2.8L/auto/4x4 setup other than finding an original trans? -

thx. Did that 86 2.8L orig come with the A700? And would a modern XJ 2.5 AW4 (97-01) fit or is bolt pattern different from the older year XJ? -

Just to clarify...truck is fairly complete and I am looking at saving it if I can get a title, and find a trans -
Is it OK to ask for a part number on a pictured item so we can do our own hunting on the intrawebs??
-
OK..some clarification. It appears that some 88 and 89 EGRs were different. It almost looks like the 88 had an internal transducer (much bigger EGR) and the 89 was smaller EGR but with external transducer setup. The 89 is shown with external transducer (part # 4F1412- which is NLA) , and the 88 with internal transducer (part #4F1413- still widely available). Anyone know if the 88 EGR will just bolt up in place? The base looks a little different but its very close. Does the vac line need to be modded? Could this be a workaround for a part that is NLA (no longer available)?
-
OK guys . Thanks for the reply. Just a question about using the 4F1413 unit. Are u just hooking up the VAC line from manifold directly to the EGR and eliminating the external transducer altogether? Does it still work correctly? Do you have a pic of what it now looks like installed?
-
Anyone know where to source a replacement EGR and transducer for a renix 4.0 (1989)? I have used info found on the forums to determine the part # is 5300 4867 and its NLA. I crossed with every other manufacturer's part number and they are all NLA. Last one to carry this was NAPA and they are NLA. Ebay and mopar parts sites came up empty. So....Are there any other EGR's out there that can be modded to work? I recall someone found a transducer from oreilly (G28012) that might work, so I ordered that to try and swap but haven't found anything on a possible EGR that can work. I don't really want to delete it. Any help is appreciated.

stroker- Is there a part number on that cab light kit? I need to hunt for one thx

I see its a fairly common code...maybe some sort of special employee pricing discount? I was just curious was all. thx
