Misfires, jumps and feels like maybe sensors?
224ftlb replied to MobilJoe1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Could be as simple as cleaning grounds. Could be stale/watery gas. Could be a loose flywheel. Could be cam sensor. Could be timing chain. Could be cps. Get an old snap-on or otc scanner that reads live data so you can check it out as it's happening because I don't think these store codes and if they do they're pretty general. -

Exactly why I built it. $350 $#!&box subarus would only let me get so far.

Thanks! I wish I could have shared more but the files are too large. Those views are why I bought an xj 5 years ago, then went on a hunt for this truck.

Made it out to moab after we got done and split up. I'm still trying to get the butt-puckers out of the seat covers. Got there shortly before dusk and had to finish out hells Revenge in the dark, alone.

I finally had to put some money in it. Had a hp30 and 8.25 regeared to 4.10 with Spartans in both. About 2k all told. Cut and welded new 3 hole perches on the rear which let me slide the axle back the inch that the f150 leafs moved the 35 forward. The front got new Dana balljoints new ujoints in the bigger late model axleshafts, SKF wheel beatings and full Power-Stop extreme towing brake kit. New ujoints all around. Bought a u-weld-it bumper kit from scamazon and set a $150 marketplace Smittybilt Tiger Shark 9500 in it. Packed the bed full, changed the 20 minute break in oil in the difference and hammered it 1250 miles to Grand Junction, CO and hung out with a buddy for a couple days while we got a last minute thrash in on his Lexus, rear bumper, sliders and wiring for the arb fridge and inverter and a few other things. Changed the oil in the diffs, too couple other guys showed up from Portland and away we went. 600 miles through east central Utah, monument valley, Anasazi ruins, the Henry mountains and a bunch more. Truck did fantastic other than popping a sway bar end link and the ubolts needing a retorque.

And nobody dies! Well almost nobody

It’s not done yet. Lockers are on the shelf still because I haven’t decided on 8.25 or 8.8. Probably be the 8.25..

Thanks Mr. Pete. computers, I tell ya. I was only showing off how sticky the tires are.

There’s around $650 in this one. Factory built and Ready to run out of a box plus batteries/charger and good tires and cheap aluminum wheels will set you back around $700 My old beastie had about $2k in it

My latest mj project. Chinesium except for the proline swampers Injora frame and body, scx10.2 axles and links, MIP driveshafts, Mamba Max esc and castle slate 2250kv Holmes brushless servo. Moved the battery forward and hinged the rear body mount, magnets on deck for the front. Raised rear upper link mounts Softest springs I could dig out of my shock collection. Embarrassed a half dozen TRX4’s on its first run out.
